I will cut to the point. I am an ultra-runner, I have ran 4 50k's with my eyes set on 100,200 and maybe even 300 mile races +. The thing is, I will be running a relatively slow pace for myself uphill or even a quicker than usual pace and get extremely out of breath.
I did some digging into things with Dr. Grok, and found out my issue is my respiratory threshold, not to be confused with V02 max. After doing a lot more digging into the matter I came across this book
It was published last month coincidentally. I am not extremely far into it yet, however I was implementing what little I have already learned this morning on a run prior to heading into work. I ran a course that I typically find myself walking on a lot. Utilizing what little I already learned however I was able to run the entire course/route, set a new PR drastically in my 10k and ran an average pace close to 2 minutes under my average mile. On top of all of this, my heart rate was much lower on average across the run than some of my shorter seemingly easier runs typically are. I am not a book reviewer but this book has already impacted me so much that I felt lead to share it.
I'd be happy to discuss it as well as running in general through this thread.
