Just a bit of context, I'm an American living in Canada. Coming back to the USA is a very distinct possibility for me. I'm exposed often to both US and Canadian politics.
I just watched the footage from the democratic debate, listening to the squabble of the candidates taking potshots at each other and listening what Bernie Sanders had to say, I'm noticing a few things.
Politics, no matter which side of the spectrum you are on, constitutes of playing the blame game.
On the side of Donald Trump, immigrants and chinese are the reason you are miserable.
On the side of Bernie Sanders, its the Billionaires and Russians that cause the downfall of the country.
Everybody else in the race just become a blend of white noise of squabbling, trying to pull down whoever is in the lead. Making petty attacks on each other, claiming how each one of them is unfit to be president. None of you candidates are fit for anything but a marketing agency....
One thing I realized during all this squabbling, is that no candidate as really able to convey why any voter should give a crap about them. What value would they provide as president? It's all a tear-each-other-apart game, and when it's not, its a call out to what is wrong with the country game.
It's like a giant reality TV show, but the script of it dosen't even change every 4 years. Everything is emotionally driven drivel.
People get excited about it and I can't understand why anymore. At this point I couldn't care less who is president (or prime-minister of Canada for that matter.).
Don't think that Canadian politics are any better, its all pettiness up here. Justin Trudeau spent the majority of his energy attacking Steven Harper. In the last election Elizabeth May and Jagmeet Singh, did thier damnest to tear down Justin Trudeau (coicidence that around that time the pictures of Justin Trudeau dressed as Aladdin surfaced.)
Everybody thinks the guy or gal who will solve all of their problems is just around the corner, because they can't take responsibility for thier own selves. But do you honestly want to put your future in the hands of a bunch of adults acting like school children? Maybe that is the source of why the government sucks at everything it does.
My feeling is that those unscripted don't give a crap about politics, but maybe I'm wrong and there is still reason to care.
