Advice for Selling to Grocery Stores

I come to you bearing a question in my novice. I am in the very initial development steps for starting a business of flavored honey. One of my goals is to sell them in grocery stores, and I'm wondering if I should sell to distributors or make the distribution company myself. Will I be a sucker if I sell to distributors? Will this hinder my profits, or is it a worthy asset?
