I will keep this short. I'm a 21 year old college student in Nigeria(a 3rd world country). I've been getting ideas on possible solutions to a lot of problems over here, Sadly i've been held back on taking specific actions because the purchasing power over here isn't good and the economy is currently in shambles as businesses are closing down due rise in cost of raw materials.

I need a specific advice on how to go about this, i can't just sit and wait. the longer it takes, the older i get.

Nigeria is actually the number one country in Africa. I'm sure most people would prefer Italy but I do business there and I dream of the US, it's all relative.
The grass is always greener on the other side and you can't just emigrate for no reason.
I recommend studying the way your country works and adjust your business to it, just like other successful business owners in your country have already done.

Start with this: what are you good at? What makes you tick? What's something that you see and it makes you say "wow this is bad, I could do it a lot better and here's how"?
Can you find people in that niche that can help you deliver this service/product or customers you can serve?
It's a process so don't expect this to be an overnight success or a one-time thing to do and then forget about.

Bigger cities have bigger opportunities because more people allow you to leverage scale better. This or the internet, depends on what you are doing but scale is eventually needed and the sooner you can access it the faster you can grow.

Let me know if you need me to elaborate more, I hope other users chip in too to give you more points of view.
Cheers!

Hello Brian,

A fellow Nigerian here. I'm a 23 year old, recently-graduated student of OAU.

I can fully relate when you said the purchasing power is very low and the economy is bad.

However, as an entrepreneur who is also working to make sales and serve people, I want you to see possibilities. The truth is that, regardless of the fact that the economy is bad, a lot of people are still spending money. In short, people have money.

I am a sewing machine technician and seller, and thanks to the things I've learnt here, I'm being able to make a good living for myself. I earn a decent income for myself, by simply leveraging on the internet...and I'm really pushing for more.

Follow the things that Jeiz said, and I guarantee you'll get it right. If you need further help, you can reach out.

Learn English, get a remote sales job that earns in dollars. It's what I've been doing, and it gets me in the top 1-2% earners in my country (Brazil).

Save all the money, invest, and then start your own business.
