I’m no numerologist, but 1000 posts deserves some reflection.
I joined April 12, 2012. It’s not been a full year yet, but coming up on it. I’ve learned so much here.
I’ve improved my life dramatically since I joined. I have three different ventures going; I’ve got a small design consulting business, I’ve got my WeatherOasis importing business, and I’ve got a skunkworks importing/product business going. The consulting gig feeds the other two ventures while they get off the ground. None of it is enough to jettison me from my job, but they’re growing, and I expect to have other things to say on my 2000[SUP]th[/SUP] post.

Important Concepts
1. Focus on providing value
People will give you money in exchange for the value you offer them. This might seem like an obvious concept, but it eludes many people.“How come my blog isn’t earning me any money?” Use this in everything you do, from washing the dishes to selling industrial refrigeration systems. Make it part of your personality.
2. CENTS is your friend
These five tenets will guide you towards businesses that will be profitable and sustainable. There’s no better litmus test.
3. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson
Everybody falls on their face. Figuring out what went wrong and applying that lesson for the next attempt will hone your skills
4. Get off your a$$
Spend some time looking thru old threads here. SO many people talk the talk but don’t walk the walk.This is failure in a can
5. Stay off your a$$
Once you’re moving down a path, don’t quit unless you KNOW it’s a dead-end. Sometimes all you need to turn the corner is to walk around the corner.
