I'm living in Shanghai, China, and 70 million people are coming to the city this year due to the International Expo. I already have a business here but not one that would benefit directly from tourism.
How would you profit from such an inflow of people?
My first thoughts have been towards restaurants...but then again many people say only crazy folks open restaurants. I've never tried so I wouldn't know. It seems like it would be easier to make it through the first year though, due to the inflow of clients (of course I'd pick a good location with foot traffic).
Another idea is a bar...which should be easier to operate than a restaurant and potentially more lucrative. (and I don't mind the lifestyle)
Other ideas?
The Expo starts in May so it needs to be something that can be put together relatively quickly. My capital is also limited (around 50-60k, which is probably comparable to 120k in the US since many things are cheaper here) so capital-intensive businesses like limousine services etc are out.
