Hey guys,
I have actually been a lurker for awhile, let me start by coming out officially and admitting that I have been an action-faking extraordinaire. I have been a slow-laner staring intently at the fast lane for a couple years now.
I have read both books twice at this point and they are just incredible. I grew up in a family with two parents that were absolutely wonderful and taught me to be a good man but they were just not the entrepreneurial type. They were both teachers in the lowest teacher pay state in the nation. TMF and Unscripted were honestly my first exposure to business creation and the fast lane. I feel as if I am finally awake and it is very exciting. I have already tripped over my first hurdle-- paralysis by analysis. I have always been entirely too data based and analytical (probably why I feel at home in intensive care) I fall into an ugly cycle where I research a venture to death and pick it apart because it is not "the perfect option". This is really becoming a problem because action is everything.
I am currently trading three for four at my hospital job, and while I love what I do I know that this is not enough to serve my ultimate purpose. I have a deep desire to bring healthcare to disadvantaged countries- Mexico specifically. I have taken multiple medical mission trips to remote Mexican villages to bring everything from toothbrushes to prenatal vitamins. The inhabitants of these remote areas die every day from easily preventable diseases. While I love being the "boots on the ground" it just isn't good enough for me. I know that I have the skills to make a bigger impact and Fund these ventures instead of just working them.
Sorry for the novel introduction, but I want to fully explain where I am coming from. Anyway, this forum has been so impressive. Positive, but not naive. Relentless, but retaining honor in business. You all have something special here, and I want in!
