So I want to start a side hustle in 2020. I am passionate about selling and the processes of connecting with strangers, getting them to like me and trust me, and buy from me. I’ve been in commissioned sales all my life. I make around 250k a year selling mortgages. I have a full time assistant to process my files so my work is pretty much revolves around keeping my current referral sources and clients happy.
For 2020, I am thinking of a project to start. My criteria foe the project is:

1- life changing upside potential.
2- can be operated from any location.

I was thinking of starting an Arabic (my mother tongue) youtube channel that teaches people the science of sales. There is a big need in the Arabic world for that I believe.

I also have aspirations to become a sales trainer in the Arab world where i go and do speeches there teaching people different strategies. My rational for starting a youtube channel is i can direct potential clients to my videos to show them some of the ideas I will be talking about if they hire me as a trainer to do training for their organization. The videos will give a portfolio to show case when im pitching them to hire me.

What do you think? Good idea or bad idea?

lets say i did only the channel without becoming an actual sales trainer. Is there enough up side potential in that?

If it's something you are passionate about and a niche for it, you probably will do well as you seem to do good with what you do.

I would recommend looking at people that are either doing this already or something similar, and see how you can improve what they're currently doing.

You're obviously limited to Arab-speaking visitors that are wanting to head to YouTube to get business advice. I have no idea how big that market is, but if it's big enough then figuring out how you can provide more to your viewers than the alternatives is the best place to start.

Go to Google Keyword Planner and see what is the real market share and interest of sales education to Arabians.

Put the general broad keyword of "How to sell" in Arabian

In there, you can see real data to your business idea.

Compare that to the US Interest.

Tell us your business research in here please, so we can help by brainstorming new ideas or new angles.

Cheers!

Do you want to make money from Youtube ads? Or just build your audience base and 'get out there' so you can later make conferences/training in the Arab world to higher end companies?

If you're planning to do this so you can make money of ads, I do not recommend it for some reasons.

In the eyes of Google ad-sense, Arab/third world countries viewers are cheaper than bread. For many different logical reasons, and racism is not one of them. So you're talking about millions of views and subscribers and you'd make way less than 250k a year.

That actually gives you a benefit, since you can pay YouTube to show your videos to many Arabs for such a cheap rate, but usually, don't expect them to pay anything online.

As for building an audience, so you can later up-sell to them, YT is a good platform for that.
But again, you should ask yourself, who are your audience? Average Ahmad? Direct sales companies?

Anyway, maybe look at Motaz Mishal (معتز مشعل), he's a motivational speaker who used the platform really successfully to organise real indoor 'conferences' and he's making a great profit doing that.
