Hello everyone, I am somewhat of a longtime lurker who has just decided to create an account
A little bit about myself:
-I am 20, currently going to school (Business IT, kinda pressured to go by parents but hate it. I know I have control and what not of the situation but, I have learned some new things and am almost done)
-I have 3 years of IT experience; I currently am on a contract for a fed. agency, working full-time.
-Started a marketing business with a buddy, we are currently learning the ropes and trying to acquire clients.
I have read TMF and greatly enjoyed the book it totally changed my perspective on life. My parents came from a third-world country and they carry that mindset from there to here (US), and try to implement it on my brother and I. They have the mindset of going to school (They FIRMLY believe that a degree is the key to everything lol, they preferably want meto become a lawyer, doctor, or engineer), getting a decent job, getting married, working, working, working, 401k/retire, die. I was content with their idea at first because it's the norm, however I don't want to drive that Honda Odyssey (no hate) to work, come home after sitting in traffic, eat dinner, watch TV, sleep, and repeat.
I want financial freedom, the ability to make my own decisions, to enjoy the luxuries of life, and to have my days to myself, not give them to some slimy corporate man. Therefore, I come to you all on this forum for guidance and advice. I am currently learning to develop websites and write copy, I have read a few good books and articles that were mostly recommended by my buddy and other fastlaners (lurk). I have checked out some of the Gold threads and they have been very helpful and inspiring. I will try to keep you all updated on my journey of joining the 2 comma club and will gladly contribute to others that I can help.
