Hello all,
I am currently working on this table-top rpg game in the Roblox game engine. Over the past month, I've been experimenting with many projects, and I think I've landed onto something that I am satisfied with.
Basically, I generate a grid layout of the terrain (represented by the green and red-ish colored dots on the floor) and when the player clicks on a spot, the game calculates the shortest path for the character to walk while avoiding obstacles, water, and large slopes.
Why do I think this is a good project? Well, I haven't seen any ROBLOX games that replicate the typical ttrpg game style, and I think I could bring that to the table for players to enjoy. Since there aren't any games similar to this, it is tougher for others to replicate (Entry). However, I also believe this is not too great in terms of Control, as it is under the Roblox platform meaning in the end they get to control what happens to the game. It took me about a week or two to get down the core functionality of movement and grid-layouts, so I also think this with enough time I should be able to scale the project to include more features like combat and character creation.
Anyway, thank you for reading and advice / opinions / comments are appreciated!
