First, he must admit that he may have a problem. Then he needs to find the medical reason. (Mine is from having damaged kidneys.) The next step is to figure out how he's gonna change his lifestyle. For me, it requires a daily routine and specific choices. The alternative to getting a handle on this type of problem is rather radical and permanent.

He is on his way there. He posted somewhere that he will try intermittent fasting, which is a good first step. I am no longer a fan of intermittent fasting, though I think that a reset will do wonders for him. Assuming here that he doesn't have major insulin resistance.

And yes, completely agree with you. Changing lifestyle is a must. Many people are being silently destroyed by poor lifestyle habits. It doesn't help that many of those ailments are not easily pre-screened for. When there is a symptom, you are already way late in the game. High blood pressure and insulin resistance are slowly chipping away at people's health.
