I would definitely like to chronical my story adventure. I think I'm in the right spot.
The Script has it's talons in me deep. After an epic personal FTE and a glimpse into an abysmal future. I've decided to see just how hard it is to make this unscripted thing work.
I'm going to go as fast as I personally can. Which I can say for sure is slower than most. But I can't let my kids grow up with zero parents. And my time shouldn't have a price on it. No value voucher will explain to my kids why their dad is gone 12 hours a day.
As a time marker I started November 2021.
I've racked my mind 2 million ways and came up with 50 good ideas. I obviously can't make 50 good ideas work with my current responsibilities in the amount of time I have.
So I've narrowed it down to 2 ideas for their own reasons.
One is a beverage.
A beverage that does exist I'm sure. But I can't find it conveniently in gas stations or convenient stores or even Walmart sometimes.
Pros:
It hits all the CENTS if I do it right.
It's a repeat consumable (that isn't by my eye to proliferate yet)
It follows a trending dietary need that I believe is growing
It isn't tied to the internet but can be marketed on it.
Did I say need? It would have fullfilled a need for me and at least a handful of others I've heard more than once.
It's niche enough to be loved by few but tasty and enough to be enjoyed by many.
Competition wouldn't slow me down an ounce for a while. The market is huge.
Creating convenience feels like I'm doing the world a favor.
Cons:
Food scares me. Which isn't a good mindset. But I'm being real with myself.
There's expiration dates to figure out. And then a deadline on sales.
Minimum orders with a copacker mean I'll have to pull some serious hours at first in my day job and trade time for money to get the first round.
Everything inside me says that's the one to focus on. That's your business.
The other is the <safe> route.
A board game.
Pros:
I can get all the pieces and assemble myself and have a decent profit margin at first.
I have more control over speed and production and final product
If I don't get any sales for a while the product can be fine.
Feels safer.
I could be wrong but I feel the market is going to grow and is growing.
I also feel like I have an understanding of what enjoyable games involve and why someone would play mine.
Cons:
The world doesn't *need* more games. I feel like my idea is drastically different and I feel the world will want my game. But what I fee doesnt F*cking matter at all.
Repeat purchase involves inventing new product.
It almost feels like I'm selling t-shirts with today's *game* craze
It will definitely be 100% marketing unless it's fully loved by players.
I used *feel* a lot to indicate areas of my personal thoughts bases on my personal research. I.e. it could be entirely false.
Anyway. Not asking for a decision for me by any means. It's the holiday which means I have time off and either way I need to learn how to make a website so I'm not stopped by not making a decision yet. I'll update when I pick one. Which will probably be after I call three copackers I like and see if they have ingredients I can even use and their minimum run. Ingredients will dictate if I can beverage with them. Minimum run will dictate how long before I can. The lack of any copackers having what I want may dissuade me into the board game. But that's decisions still to be made.
That's all for now.
