Hi, I'm 16 and really want to start a business, but I don't know where to start. I am also overwhelmed by the law aspects of starting a business. I feel that my country (Poland) is not very "entrepreneur-friendly" and it's hard to start a business there. I resell shoes and clothes, but I do it as a hobby so it doesn't give me consistent income. I wanted to trade on the stock market or cryptocurrencies but I need to be 18 (I played a little for fun on demo stock market and earned 35% in 2 months). I learn new things very fast but I don't know where to start. I would start a small Shopify business just for the test but I also really can't because I need to be 18 to receive payments.
I have an empty room in the house that could be a warehouse.

I need ideas for small business because I want to try it and get experience to later start a bigger business.
Could you please tell me what would you suggest to me? Ideas for business?
What would you do in my place? Please don't say "invest in yourself".
Please, could you tell me how you started?

Well lets start with learning a bit more about you.
You say that you are 16 from Poland.
What else?
Who are you? What do you like to do?
What do you think a business is?
Do you have reasons to want to create a business? What are they?

What else?:
I don't want to be narcistic but I think that I'm a bit smarter than other people my age. I'm introverted and don't know what else to say.

Who are you? What do you like to do?
Now I really do nothing specific and just attend online lessons. I try to buy items cheaply and sell for more (mostly shoes). I also occasionally go thrift shopping and I earned a bit of money from this.

What do you think a business is?
For me, a real business is when you can go on a holiday for 6 months and still earn money. But I don't want that type of business now, I want to start a small business to get experience, later I could automatize it.

Do you have reasons to want to create a business? What are they?
I don't want to work every day till retirement. I want to enjoy life. I never really study for tests etc but still, I am a very good student. However I haven't decided yet if I want to go to university, but If I go I would pick marketing studies (they would help in creating business).
I don't want to argue for money as other people do. I want to buy things that I can't buy now (I guess I won't want them anymore when I have the money). I want freedom and money gives freedom. My ideal plan for life is to build a well prosperous business and then sell it for millions, which I invest in other businesses and enjoy life.

Hey man,

I read your post and welcome.

You have two great assets with you.

1) Youth - aka. you have more time than many of us
2) You have desire

My suggestion is to read and re-read MJ's books. Millionare fast lane provides a framwork and practical pathway to what you seek. Its not easy, but its all in his books.

Read that fuker x 10 times and write notes as you go.

Then.. my suggestion is to get a fkn job and put yourself out there in the workforce. Look for problems. Get your hand dirty, and start growing a pot of money, so that you have some ammo when you decide to pull the trigger.

Best of luck.

Thank you for advice!
Thats very good.
Unscripted is even better than the TMF , so make sure to read it!

However, you should see how you are putting your goals above the goals of others.
This is very clear in your answer here:

Unfortunately almost no one cares about what you want.
Not your dreams, plans, wants, or anything really.

The goal of a business is and always should be to give other people what they want.
Here in lies the contradiction.
To get what you want, you FIRST must give other people what they want.
If they get what they want, they`ll give you money for it. Simple as that.
Life enjoyment, money, success, etc. will come as a consequence of that and of proper appreciation of your current (as in the NOW) life situation.

This may be a little hard to grasp at first, but its really easy to understand.
Dont think about what you want, try and find out what other people want, what`ll solve their problems, what`ll make their life easier, what`ll save them time and/or effort.
Thats where the gold is.

Here is some advice, a little general considering you are 16, but there will be some specific ones to your case

Always take care of your health and body.
There will NEVER be a time when you dont need your health.
Exercise regularly, dont overeat, dont do drugs, dont drink too much etc.
One of your top priorities should always be to maintain your health.

Take care of your mental health.
This may or may not be needed.
Life can bring anyone down to their knees, so its important to be mindful of ones mental health.
This will make more sense later in life, just keep it in mind for now.

I get that you want to start a business, but you are still too young.
The years dont matter as much as experience does and you dont have any yet.
The quickest way to progress in your case is a job, not attempting to create a business.
Since you`ve already tried sales, maybe you have a talent for that and it might be best to look for a job in that field. Your age might be an issue at the moment, but you should still try and find somewhere where you can be an apprentice of sorts. Anywhere where things are sold/bought.
A job will help you work on your discipline.
It`ll help you meet and network with people.
You`ll learn valuable INSIDERS information, you`ll start to understnad how the market works, how production works, how logistics work.

How long should you stay in a job?
Once you feel that there isnt anything more you can learn at said job.
With experience, skills and contacts acquired, only then try and make a business.
More importantly, with experience you`ll have a much better chance of making the "right" business which will have a greater chance at success.

I hope this helps you.
If you want me to elaborate on anything, feel free to ask me questions in the thread.

I am very aware of that truth, but somehow I still try to reject it, I guess that's because I don't have any idea right now what could I give to the world and I am selfish. I am going to work on it. Thank you again.

I think the most important thing is that you have the willingness to work very hard and goal-oriented. Then you need the combination of a good network, many resources and also a good theoretical basis to become an expert in your field.

Of course, many soft skills that one would otherwise not consider also play a big role, for example, time management or leadership skills and self-motivation.
I also had some struggle to learn about entrepreneurship in a practice-oriented way. I studied business administration for 3 years and also had several courses in entrepreneurship. But I don't have the feeling that I have really learned the aspects that are important for the actual founding.

I spend some time searching for a platform that offers me a good online learning experience to get an overview of what is important in entrepreneurship.
I think the company that developed a learning map and linked it to a cool ecosystem is called EWOR. Take a look at it if you feel like it - this platform helped me very much in understanding which steps I need to tackle to set up my company.

Maybe a scholarship or fellowship would be something for you so that you can build up your business in a risk-minimised environment.
