Many people think that C0VlD-19 is a hoax by fatality rate. It has political deception over the world for other goals that yet are not introduced to the public but some whistleblowers are openly telling about different stuff. I'm not telling everything I wrote is necessary true, I have only one question - Why I should believe mass media. I see everywhere only Fear this - Fear that. Every human potential enemy.

Not an AMA, but my mom has been sick with C0VlD-19 for 4 days now, so thought I’d just post the info from her situation.

Background: Rehabilitation nurse at major hospital in Phoenix
Age: 51

My mom had two COVID-positive symptomatic patients in her daily care. Both women, one in her 50s, one in her 90s. The one in her 90s became hypoxyic and died on July 12.

After the patient died, the hospital sent my mom home on 7 day mandatory quarantine starting July 13.

Self-test was conducted at CVS parking lot on July 14.

Until July 20, no symptoms and my mom was scheduled to return to work on July 20.

On evening of July 20, my mom reported that she felt extremely cold and was shivering more than anytime in her life. Temperature was 102.5 and has remained at 102 for four days now.

Her test came back positive on July 22. No surprise at that point.

Symptoms so far have been primarily gastrointestinal. Sense of taste is extremely high and everything tastes disgusting to her. She hasn’t been able to eat or drink much of anything. Lungs are doing ok and oximeter readings are 95. She can’t take full breaths though due to tightness and urge to cough. She is extremely fatigued and sleeping about 18-20 hours per day.

I’ll update every few days as it progresses, but just wanted to provide another case study.

What about quinine and zinc? I saw a video online where a guy said to start drinking Shwepps tonic water because it has quinine and that quinine works similarly to HCQ. He also said to start taking zinc and that the two work together (also like HCQ + zinc). Is there any truth to that? Is it plausible?

Also I have heard of it being beneficial to take HCQ as a preventative. How would a person go about getting some from their physician for that purpose? Do you just call up and tell them you would like to be prescribed some for that purpose or maybe complain of arthritis symptoms instead so they have a "legitimate" reason to prescribe it to you? It seems like politics are heavily affecting being able to get HCQ.

I had COVID with my wife couple months ago. But we are young. 25. It was bad, but not as it's portrayed everywhere.

Guys, don't worry about it. Worst case: you will die.

If we are positive, what do you recommend to eat or drink to speed up the healing process.

@Iwokeup @GIlman thanks for doing this – really hope it doesn't get derailed like the last thread.

I have a few questions:
1 – How effective are masks in an outdoor environment? Lots of places in the USA are mandating mask wearing EVERYWHERE. My understanding of it was the risk of contracting COVID in an outdoor, "fresh air" environment (esp. with wind) was effectively null. i.e. You're not gonna kill an old lady by walking by her without a mask...I look at it as hysteria, wanna get the scientific answer.

2 – What % likelihood is it that I had COVID but displayed zero symptoms? 23, Healthy, Not overweight, no underlying conditions, workout daily...I've taken virtually zero precautions. *might* have had a low grade fever for like 2 days in march but that's it.

3 – What do you take / supplement to give your immune system a boost, as a precaution?

Thanks!

Thanks for making this thread, lots of great information in here.

Quick question - what are your thoughts on fitness trackers (FitBit, Garmin, etc.) that contain a pulse oximeter? Are they accurate enough?

Honestly, no one can actually answer those questions with certainty, there is a lot of speculation. Here are my thoughts about it though.

1) Masks would be as effective outdoors as indoors from a filtration standpoint, but I'm guessing the real question you are getting at is not the effectiveness but the utility of masks outdoors. If masks actually provide any protection (which I personally am highly skeptical of simply because people seem to lack good "mask hygiene" and touch them constantly), then you would expect that they would provide similar protection from any Covid that actually reached your face. However, the benefit of being outdoors is two fold, that probably makes the utility of masks quite low to begin with.

First, is the volume and rate of dispersion. Meaning that when you are outside there is an infinite volume of air to dilute any covid particles into. As opposed to indoors where you have a fixed amount of air between the walls, floor, and ceiling; outside the particles will diffuse 360 degrees into infinity. Any air currents will speed up the rate of dissipation. Note that just because you are exposed to covid, does not necessarily mean that you will become infected. Your body has several mechanisms to protect itself against any inhaled agent. The higher the dose of exposure the more likely you will become infected. This is probably why, ironically, it seems that people who shelter in place get infected more often (and possibly suffer more severe illness).

Actually this was first reported in china before it even blew up here in the US, namely that interfamily infections resulted in higher death rates than infections acquired in the community. Makes sense really because if you are trapped in the same house as someone that is sick, your exposure would be off the charts compared to say getting it from someone on the subway that is only in direct exposure to you for 10 minutes.

Second, outdoors, during the daytime at least, you have lots of UV light, which is believed to neutralize and kill covid nearly instantaneously. So if you are in direct sunlight, well then probably there is very very very low chance of covid surviving from someone else's mouth to yours.

So, in my opinion masks out doors in most situations are more theater than protection, well maybe indoors too as I said above. Of course if you are in a tightly packed crowd then the dynamics of everything I just said does change some, especially if at night (assuming that masks did have utility, which again I am very skeptical of).

Why am I skeptical, I guess I will state that too. There have been several studies done with Flu, which is similar in many ways to covid, where they divided people into groups where they wore different styles of masks or no masks at all. These were people working in medical offices. They found no statistical difference in these groups. And these medical personal have some knowledge and experience with proper mask hygiene, which the general public does not. One the CDC site they link to studies about filtration efficiency to different particles, but even the studies they cite showed poor filtration. But the flu study is probably more applicable because it takes into account all the variables of people wearing masks in the real world in addition to filtration efficiency.

2) That's impossible to say, that totally depends on the prevalence of the infection in the population at large. If you live in a place like NYC or Boston where there were big outbreaks, then there is a significant chance. If you live in boonies Vermont, probably really low. Serum antibody tests in different locations show the rate of subclinical (no symptoms) infection that has occured.

3) The ones that i believe probably have some protective impact for catching and severity of illness are Zinc and Vitamin D. There is a plausible mechanism and some data to support both. Beyond that I don't know.

I doubt it (but could be completely wrong). A traditional pulseox shines a red light through a thin part of the body (finger/toe/ear), and basically measures the amount of hemoglobin to oxyhemoglobin based on the degree of absorption or red light. The emitter is on one side the light collector on the other. Both being on the same side is not likely to be nearly as accurate.

Here is a related article for you.

They are studying it, but time will tell. Good research takes a long time and needs validation by peer groups, even more time..

Right. I've yet to see COVID pneumonia in anyone who didn't have a BMI <35 OR who didn't already have a serious underlying respiratory illness such as COPD.

The sad thing is you talk to pretty much all the doctors in the hospital, and everyone thinks the same thing. The key to hydroxychloroquine is early administration. It might stop the infection from blowing up, it surely can’t stop the effects and response of the body to the blown up infection.

This is identical to how Tamiflu for the flu works. You have to take it early before the infection has blown up. Once the cats out of the bag it won’t put it back in.

Politicians should not practice medicine!! There were/are states where governors have made it illegal of doctors to prescribe this due to covid, and if you did they could pull your medical license. I’m not sure if these laws are still in place, but it’s ridiculous they ever where. I’m aware of no time in the past where a state government outlawed or threatened to revoke a medical license for someone prescribing and using and FDA approved medication.

Edit: a friend of mine just sent me a study from Brazil published this week, I need to review. At a glance the study design seems good with a sizable study population. Their results suggest hcq is not effective. I will review and respond when I can. As I said previously the big problem with covid is that there is no concrete science, it takes longer than 3 months to produce good studies and do verification studies. So each study that comes out is more a piece of the puzzle, not the whole picture.

What do you think about Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter removing/censoring the video's of the press conference because of "spreading misinformation"?

I am going to be Puerto Rican soon so I don't have a horse in this race, but this does seem to be the case. View attachment 34275

You moving or just travel? If moving would love to know costs and time to get your act 20/22 approval.

I give it about a 70% chance that we make 2021 the first tax year down there. I did a show on it with a tax expert down there yesterday actually. We are going to visit soon to scope out places to live.

So, covid, is like cancer, in way? Cancer (tumor/cells) starts in a particular area. Once it is in the bloodstream. "Metastasis" - going to another area. You're pretty much done for.

My uncle just passed away this weekend of covid..
she was a bit overweight in her 50s.
was in the hospital for 2 weeks i think. no visits
I'm sorry. :(

Husband's grandfather died back in April in an nyc hospital. He was hospitalized for over a month.

Grandma doesn't want to be alone so she's ignoring all precautions. She caught covid when grandpa did and bounced back, so she's decided she's immune.

She's either right or wrong, I guess.

Puerto Rico is a USA territory.

Part of the appeal is having extremely low taxes while still holding a US passport.

Anyway, back on topic.

oh ffs! I’m a moron about geography. Ty. My bad.
