Let me preface, if you are NEW: You're not contributing to the forum when you're new and you post one word or one sentence posts.

I've had to delete several posts lately because they just seem more like sig/post pimps more than anything. The exception of course, is if you are giving speed/rep and want the author to know ...
If you're a regular, I don't mind seeing an "I agree" ... I do it all the time.
Understand that an "I Agree" from an AroundTheWorld, Lighthouse, Rawr or another forum regular is far different than an "I agree" from someone who just joined and has no posts, no rep, no speed, nothing except a completed signature link.
If you're new and I see these posts, you immediately become labeled a sig pimper, or worse, a spammer.
I'd rather see a long diatribe posting that I totally disagree with, than a post that says nothing except "Informative post".
First impressions are important ... just something to keep in mind.
