Hey everyone. I am 10 minutes into the forum, so that's pretty fresh I guess. I've been on a journey of growth and financial education for the past couple of years, while juggling all life throws at me with two small children. Every spare moment I am absorbing everything I can that brings clarity into my life as far as money is concerned. I've had gone through all the big name money gurus with their books and YT videos, and I take a little from here and a little from there, like a jig-saw puzzle I am composing in my mind.

Then, something magical happened and I found a video on The Millionaire Fastlane ..and I felt like I finally found the whole package. MJ was verbalizing the notions and thoughts that have believed in for years and years, yet couldn't really find anyone that could get me. Everyone is too brainwashed by the system or beat down from the grind of work and schedules and kids and commitments..of playing it safe.

My husband is a very hard-working man, gone 6 days a week. Up at the crack of dawn. Comes home late and he's tired and stressed from traffic and hours of physical labor (he does contracting)..Shower, dinner, some tv...sleep, repeat. This is not the way we were meant to live. This is 1800's mentality where hard work meant you could get ahead..yes.

He does make decent money but the trade-off is not worth it!! So I have been on this mission to crack the code to a better life. A great one. One where you go to sleep happy and you wake up happy. Where you are not tied down by punching in, or contracts or deadlines or schedules, and you actually have TIME for the people, things and activities you love.

I've started in what I found to be a good place for me as a stay at home mom with limited time: e-commerce, but have had different ideas ( out of which two inventions that I want to patent) float through my mind that I never really gave much thought to. I did call a lawyer and get a consultation on intellectual property, but then left it at that, focusing on my website.

I would bring it up the patent ideas up my husband, unfortunately the ones closest to you sometimes are the ones that just don't share your vision..and he would suggest I just get into legal work since I do quite a bit in that field for friends and family and have knack for it. So it made me feel he didn't believe in my dreams or ideas or potential.

Back to the daily routine I would go and things would just sit on "pause"..Again, coming across MJ DeMarco, I just started watching everything he had on YT, ordered the books from Amazon, am half-way through Fastlane. I don't have much free time, but when I do, I make it count.

I have found what I feel is my Home, intellectually. My journey is not a fast-paced one as my children are my focus round the clock, my youngest still wakes me 3,4 times every night...but I know where I am going. A have a clear vision as to what I want to achieve, where I want to go and who I want to be in life. I know what ideas I want to pursue, and what avenues I will create to generate money for me. I know I will get there and I am thrilled to be on this forum with like-minded individuals that can see through society's BS. Cheers!

Welcome! The information can definitely be overwhelming here, highly recommend starting with the gold threads that pertain to your interests.

On another note, you’ll find several more of us with young kids here so we get the struggle of balancing the kiddos with your entrepreneurial goals!

Glad to hear the books are resonating with you. If you need to convert the husband, Unscripted might be a better book for him... if you can get him to read it.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome @Daniela101 ! I've only been here a week and working through these Gold threads is time consuming but oh so worth it! Pull up a chair and dig in because the table is set. Also, I second using the Google custom search as the results seem much more relevant.

Welcome to the forum! You mentioned that your husband is a contractor. In what profession? If its in construction then maybe you could try getting involved in Real Estate. Over a few years you could channel some of the money that both of you are earning into it eventually building up a portfolio of properties that could be managed passively by a management company giving you the time that you crave to focus on yourselves.

Yes I struggle to get him to READ!! I have to use positive reinforcement somehow..lol...or some kind a trade-off...You read this book, you can watch 5 hockey games without me commenting, interrupting, complaining. Hmm, something along those lines. (We are Canadian, although we have lived 10 years in Atlanta..some American in us I guess). Thanks for the welcome, I haven't been excited about anything this much in years!

Yes thank you, that is the course of action, slowly but surely. He is in construction, as you say. We are in Toronto, so the market here is insane, something like Los Angeles or New York as far as the prices of houses go. Not usre where you are from but over here a home can run about 1 mil.

Welcome!

Im in e-commerce as well.

What worked for me in the past and made my family believe in my journey was.. what was the objection that they had, and what can I do or say to change their beliefs.

So I came from a very traditional Asian background, so it's all about hard work.

Now truthfully, I'm not very hard-working but I do have a few set of skills that let me leverage what's working in the market today.

The problem was I used to binge watch a bunch of videos on youtube and buy courses and well there was just so much information out in the world.

Now if you want to cut your time in half,

I would suggest finding out who is the best person in your market.

For me, I love marketing, so I would only be allowed to consumed who is the best marketer in the world right now.

Cheers.

Hey, I hear ya! I wasted so much time watching the same YT videos as you probably! It is hard singling it down to one, but thanks for the tip, I will definitely apply...I have my best valeu-giver in the e-commerce domain.

Awesome!

Just one quick question, since we are in the same space.

What is the #1 problem facing you today in the ecom?

I would say conversion..and for this reason I am getting into Amazon. I have my own site, the time it takes to get it up, to add all the apps, to run ads, create content, $$$, time...hoping for conversions..I just think for me, since I have limited time..it is more feasible to find a niche with limited competition, and just sell on Amazon. The name brand is established. People trust Amazon..they are really iffy about websites..I recently imported reviews for most of my products, which I feel gives a sense of credibility. Which platform do you use for ecommerce? ( I have at least 3 other niches I want to get into and I get so frustrated because it takes so much to get everything going, for me at least, because my time is so limited.)

I'm based in Ireland. It's also a hot market right now but not on the scale that Toronto is currently operating at. There are a few options here if you want to continue down the Real Estate path such as

House Hacking (i.e If you already own a house start renting out rooms short term on AirBnB) at the moment I have a couple of places/room up on the site (including the house I live in) and make some serious money. It also gives you a good basis for learning about how a business is run and managing clients, time etc..

Remote Investing - Drive an hour or two outside Toronto and find a market that's within your budget. Often times you might have family in a nearby area that's cheaper, you may still have to hire a management company but at least you'll be in the area occasionally + you have family you can trust who can A) Manage it for a fee if they/you want or B) Check in occasionally on the place to make sure you aren't being taken advantage of by a management company. While I'm from Ireland I actually have some experience with the Newfoundland RE market so it can definitely be done even as far as going outside your 'home' country in extreme cases.

"Instead of digging for gold during the gold rush, sell shovels"... It's a famous phrase but what does it really mean?

- Become an agent and start selling high priced properties.
- Start an AirBnB Management Company doing short term lets on behalf of property owners who are too busy.
- Start a normal management company for long term lets.

Real Estate may not be the right option for you but there are plenty of options within it if you choose to pursue that route.

Welcome! Have you considered purchasing the audiobook version for your husband? I usually slap on a audiobook book while working, cutting grass, driving etc. Good luck!

Yes people trust Amazon but that doesn't mean you cant beat amazon. I used to do Amazon but the thing is I had to fight for price war which is the wrong way to do business. So what works best for me was I create offers and bundle it with my main product that way I can increase my price and stand out against the competition. I used shopify and clickfunnels.

Well nice to see it's so easy to connect with others here as we are all on the same path and have the same focus..Some are ahead in the game, others just started on their journey, but I feel this forum is a type of..brotherhood/sisterhood- type environment. We can receive inspiration, advice, education, wisdom and honesty!

Well well well @Daniela101 I saw you have like all here in the way of business online a hard way, I cant tell what you must do or why, because thanks to GOD you know really well what you want, and you have a great big reason a big (WHY) I do this is the must important your family, your child and your husband, remeber the growing and the learn with the development never stops here in this digital age, I dont blame your husband because I understood him, his reason is provide you and his son of meals, the bills the rent all about it. But give him time to understood your mindset, if you do what it takes to do, you you took you son and your husband to a level of the best great´s life you an them can live ever, therefore NEVER EVER stop continue until you got it, and when you got it, try do anything not just to increase you numbers per month ($) if not more try every single time to be the best version of yourself for youself, for your son, and your husban, JUST DO IT. Have a great day my friend.
