Hi All,

Since I graduated college and was “lucky” to find a job during the 2008 recession, I’ve been itching for something more. I’m in the Human Resources field and can’t believe some of the things people do whether it be employees, to managers to even leaders. I worked my way up the ladder and now in corporate coaching my boss from what I call “baby Vice President” and help him to the next level if he even makes it. A lot of people are in these corporate positions are where they are not because they know what they’re doing but because because they “network” and build relationships. My current boss verbatim told me “I don’t know much, but I’m in the position I’m in because of my network”. He speaks eloquently which has gotten him this far but his lack of knowledge, deliveries, execution show his lack of experience. It’s not only him though, I’ve been in worse situations working long a$$ hours to meet unrealistic deadlines with limited or zero resources & the vp at the time would most likely step over my dead body after I delivered a good product or work. It’s my decision that I ended up here and I accept that. Since I graduated I’ve always had an itch to work for myself. I had all these ideas but they were all attached to my time. After reading the millionaire fast lane last year my mind would not stop thinking..... thinking of what would impact millions and meet all the 5 commandments. I’ve been seeing the numbers 421 which is my birth month/date since last year, 2018 almost daily and it drove me crazy & frustrated. I reached out to a numerologist because I was that desperate to understand the meaning. What she said was spot on & to the T! I knew I was headed the right direction. (Mind you I never believed in this stuff before until it kept happening to me, it sounds crazy but I feel the universe talking to me- any of you have the same experiences?! I would like to know!) All my business ideas since last year were great ideas and I was passionate about them but ended up never feeling like the right business until this past April, where this business is my SME and met all 5 commandments. I would at first have to dedicate time to it but once it expands, I can eventually work less & less hours. It was a process of events when I tried to create & code my own website but as my 9-5 corporate workload increased, the time I had to fix or work on my website lessened. I also have a 3hr commute & get home mentally exhausted, just to log back into work when I get home. This is NOT life! I was introduced to my website developer randomly through the WP plugin developers and I reached out to her. She created a custom package with different options. I sat on it for a week or so since I would have to invest a big chunk of my readily available savings. I finally reviewed & weighed my options and took the risk! What’s the most I will lose?!?! I will never know unless I take a leap! When she sent me the contract, her address was “421” that blew my mind!!!! I knew this was the right decision and I’m headed in the right path. My website will be ready in a few weeks and I know this is still a part of the process but taking a leap and starting is a big deal & I’m so excited.

I’m up for the challenges as the corporate environment dissatisfaction is keeping me motivated to GET THE F* out of the toxic environment, giving blood, Time, sweat, daily frustration to this place that will replace me if I drop dead tomorrow.

About to purchase unscripted to keep my fire going.

My website is a little complex which is why it cost a bit more than a regular website. I also f’d it up & need to be fixed.

I haven’t told many people about this idea because my closest friends probably think I’m crazy with all my previous ideas, some ideas I actually too action and I actually went to fly to different states to source products but never actually pulled the trigger. Sometimes I feel a lone and no one gets it. I have my highs and my self doubts but know that this venture is the right venture! All the people I know want to be trapped in the normal cycle of graduate, work, 401k, retire. That is not the life I want!

Anyone else felt lonely and a little nervous spending $$$ to kick start their entrepreneur journey?

Thanks for your time all!

If your website is going to be ready in few weeks then how do you know you f'ed it up? I mean to ask it's still in the process and you shouldn't worry about it until the developer has delivered you the final product. Also, might I ask what needs to be fixed when it's already under development?

If anyone says they haven't then I don't know if they are lying or not because when you take a leap of faith, you still have your doubts and you are worrying about the fact what if this goes wrong? That's the question that I will always have whenever I am starting out but then there is something I can look beyond and have faith of doing it right.

Hi Virginia,

Thanks for the read and taking the time to reply!! Long story short, and I may not have explained this correctly in my original post but I originally was going to code and set up my website myself and started back in February. After a few plugins and code later I got really frustrated and didn’t have time to spend a lot of time figuring out the issue. The website wasn’t functions like I wanted to and is a bit complex so I had to hire a website developer who is an expert in this type of website I’m trying to develop. Now that I have a developer working on it, I’m not too worried about my website, just excited once it will be done in a few weeks.

The leap of faith was definitely scary for me but you’re right, looking beyond and having faith is something I need to work on!!

Sounds like you’re way ahead of us newbies just starting, wishing you even more prosperous year ahead!
