After my 2-year work sabbatical (Sold my forum for $2 Mil) in 2016, I've been wanting to get back into the game but struggling with new business ideas. I was the master of my game with overwhelming success in SEO and Affiliate Marketing. But somehow, I have lost interest in AM and want to start a unique web business but running out of good ideas. Having enjoyed a lot of business success in the past, I cannot imagine that I was the same person. So I've been reading a lot of books but this particular book caught my attention.

The Power of the Subconscious mind

I had this gut feeling that my subconscious wasn't aligning with my conscious mind. Then I came across a couple of articles on how Hypnosis can unlock your potential and downloaded The Success Factor Hypnosis from this website called Uncommon Knowledge.

**When your conscious and subconscious are aligned, you become unstoppable.

For those of you in the same boat, this might prove to be a good strategy as well. I've just started listening to the hypnosis sessions and as per research, it takes a couple of days for the new cells to start firing.

Thanks for this, I have been obsessed with unlocking the power of the subconscious mind, ever since a couple of years ago I heard that the subconscious can process between 2-7 million thoughts per second!

I will read the book, let's report back and see what each other thought about it.

Yes, I believe so. I work with a law of attraction expert and he is an advocate on hypnosis. I used to think hypnosis was hokey but now I'm a believer in it.

Before you go to sleep, your conscious mind starts to disappear and you get directly into the subconscious. Reprogramming your subconscious mind for success is a way to become more successful. As you start falling asleep, you're moving into the theta brainwave state, which is akin to hypnosis.

I recently started falling asleep to a success hypnosis using the headphones below and I will say that my dreams are more positive and memorable. I also feel more positive when I wake up.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DG279MB/?tag=tff-amazonparser-20

I love the headphones above for 3 reasons;
1) My wife likes to sleep with the fan on, and my eyes are really sensitive so now I no longer get irritated with dry eyes in the morning
2) My wife usually has a little light on and I like complete darkness so now I fall asleep faster
3) I get to listen to a success hypnosis as I sleep

I love hypnosis. I took a basic hypnotherapy course and worked in a hypnotherapy clinic for a couple months. (I was studying nutrition and had 100 extra hours to fill. For some reason they offered hypnotherapy. I was intrigued) I haven't experienced much hypnosis myself, other than for relaxation, but I had multiple people tell me I changed their life. It's really powerful for flipping people's scripts.

Positive expectancy does change the effectiveness but I think there have been studies done showing it has an effect no matter what.

I'm seeing empirical validity for certain things like smoking cessation, pain control in some populations etc, but not "my business mojo has gone awry!"

honestly I think what OP is referring too might be more akin to what steven pressfield was talking about in "do the work" , that sort of innate "resistance" that one has to battle in any sphere of human achievement . MJ's concept of the FTE / having a strong why (beyond ego or simple sensory gratification) those are well known keystones for what we're talking about here.

@dutt , have you considerd simply spending a few hundred dollars to have a hypnotist just give you the once over?

how are the sessions going?

Any form of self-improvement will help. Regardless of the debates about hypnosis' effectiveness, you're taking a step towards your goals with an intentional action. That builds momentum and positive psychology in itself.

Making hypnosis a sole dependency towards achieving your goals is probably fatalistic. Not that you're implying that, but some may get that idea.

It's all about what works for you at this point. If hypnosis is what you believe will lubricate your inaction, great! Give it a go.

BTW, You will never ALWAYS feel like it. Many times, you have to force yourself even if your mind isn't on your side.

That said, I really liked Psycho-Cybernetics. You might wanna check that book out as well.

P.S. I'm a big believer of the subconscious mind.

When I first started following Scott Adams; I tried using hypnosis/NLP to growth hack myself into a world class, focused artist, it didn't work out.

It was only after putting my face directly onto a rusty, jagged grindstone with 12 hour days and entry level jobs did the fire of wanting to do something truly get lit, which in turn motivated me to start reading and learning in every spare moment of my waking life (So I can retire early and then focus on art). I do do Scott-adamsian affirmations, but only as a way to hedge my bets. The truest motivation needs to come from pressure turning you from crumbling coal to daring, dazzling diamond imho.

I use to be a huge socialphobe and got rid of it completely through hypnosis. Joseph Clough gives a bunch of these away for free. Worth doing a google search. All that being said, Hypnosis is not going to change the conflict I have between wanting to raise my kid while she is still a kid and spending every waking moment on my business or lack of business. Or someone's conflict for say the love of food and losing weight. Hypnosis might help you realize that you have these conflicts though. It is an amazing tool.

Btw...anyone who has a fear/phobia or pain or confidence issues, hypnosis is the magic pill. Just make sure to use it often enough and long enough. For example, I did the social phobic hypnosis for at least 2 months and every day during that time. I put my buds in when I went to sleep at night and listened and usually fell asleep, which is fine.

I've recently been doing some marketing for a hypnotherapist and when I started I was skeptical. He said he could hypnotize people into believing they had stomach surgery so they would eat less. Huh?

Then I had to watch all his testimonial videos to collect marketing materials and holy shit, they all said the same thing. They felt full faster, ate less, and lost a lot of weight. They all said it was easy.

That got me intrigued, and since knowimg the guy I've learned about a lot of other people he's helped.

Issues like smoking, drinking, anxiety, eating disorders, public speaking, and even business success.

He helped one dude who was down in the dirt completely turn his life around, start multiple businesses, and get back to the millions in 2 years. This guy sends him a lot of clients.

I've learned a lot about the conscious vs subconscious mind over the last couple years so it's obvious why hypnosis works. It's similar to what Tony Robbins teaches what meditation is does.

Super cool stuff. I think we all hypnotize ourselves all the time so understanding it is a great idea.

I also think it's worth working with a trained professional who has dedicated their life to practicing hypnotherapy if there are problems you cant handle on your own or if you just want to get a jumpstart on doing it yourself.

It's like getting a personal trainer for your mind.

I'm in Asia so I do my sessions over Skype. Works the same as in person.

Some years ago I had a bit of time and money on my hands after selling a business. I saw a local hypnotist was teaching a class. I've always been fascinated by hypnosis so I took the class. Long story short, yes it can help you. I'm still astounded by the results people get from hypnosis. Now, the qualifier. Not all hypnotists are equally skilled. Find a good one. Also, you will get better results from a few live sessions with audio programs as follow up than you will get from any CD alone. Having a pro help you into the zone will leverage the material you bought. You will be able to get into state on your own more easily and more thoroughly after having a professional hypnotist "put you under." It's worth the money.

No kidding, you can experience profound change from hypnosis.

I've tried the YouTube ones that play all night while you sleep, for anxiety purposes. Never stuck with them for more than a week though so I can't say they helped me.

Bit unrelated but I also wanted to try to have lucid dreams. Supposedly you can do the same type of stuff, practice certain situations that scare you and what not. Another thing I just didn't stick to. Low key no attention span. lol :v

but this particular book caught my attention.

The Power of the Subconscious mind

This is an awful book, I hesitate to even give it status as a book. It is more a random collection of unfocused ideas and stories which are loosely (if at all) connected.

I was actually quite angry as this is the sort of uncorroborated woo I try to avoid like the plague. He calls himself Dr Joseph Murphy, yet there is nothing written on the book about him or his credentials, and I seriously doubt he is a real doctor.

I mean, the book doesn't even have a contents page, let alone chapter numbers and names.

Absolute garbage, I got my money back immediately and would give this nonsense a wide berth.

For a much more powerful way to affect your mind I would read The Chimp Paradox, written by a real professor of psychology, and backed up by scientific research and study.

Hypnosis is a double aged sword it can be used for good like in the self-help industry but it can also be used for bad stuff like in some secret services reprogramming around the globe.

One friend of mine was drinking beer every evening.
His wife was not happy with that and took him to a hypnotherapist. Did few sessions and boom he stopped drinking beer. The only problem was he still drinks beer, but this time alcohol free in same amounts and same time.

Briefly, I can only tell you, if you want to harness your subconscious mind meditation practice can help a lot...you can consider trying transcendental meditation: tm.org
