Hi friends,

What do you think of my new logo? I'm not yet done but want to give you an slight idea of what I'm doing and maybe you have some suggestions. Or give me probs!

upload_2019-1-8_20-58-5.png

Well well well, what do you think? The U will be shortenend on the left side so it fits below the roof of that T. And the right leg of that U will be an arrow.

And further the TopUp Auctions will be tranfered to the right side of the logo.

Well what do you think?

All the best,

I like it. I would say though that the background would need to be different, otherwise IMO there isn't enough contrast in the T & the A. Other than that, looks great!

I don't like the T. I like the A. The U is fine.

Honestly, I don't think it flows that well. The colors are kind of off maybe it's the background but it's hard to look at on my screen. Try something with more contrast to the background like white or a vibrant color.

Without making too much changes to the logo, I would:

1) Remove the drop shadow

2) Make the T a normal T without those cuts at the top of the T

3) Make the TU dark grey

4) Transfer the orange in the U to the A instead

5) The bottom right corner of the U looks awkward next to the bottom left corner of the A, so I would probably try doing a cut on the bottom right corner of the U do that the edge there is parallel to the slant of the bottom left corner of A.
Basically, the area between U and A looks awkward now.

6) For the "topup auction" text, make the two lines at the sides end in flat edges (currently they're spiky). Or you could just remove the lines altogether, and add more space between each of the "topup auction" alphabets to give it a classier look if you're going for that.

The T, U, and A all have different styles, and the "Topup" part has a 2008 font. I'd get rid of the shadow and background as well. I think you're heading in the right direction though.

Hi,

Thanks for all the feedback.

I like it. I would say though that the background would need to be different, otherwise IMO there isn't enough contrast in the T & the A. Other than that, looks great!

The background is just a placeholder for now. In the first place it will be one solid color but i'll review this after we have done the logo shape, size and coloring. Thanks for the feedback @ValueGenerator!

I asked the designer to show me the letter without the cuts since I want it to be as mainstream as possible. As for the background i'll try different colors later on! Thanks for the feedback @Thomas Baptiste!

I read it as To Pup Auctions which is prolly not what you’re going for..

Smart one. I allready told him to make the word: TopUp Auctions so this will be changed so it's more clearly. Thank you @Primeperiwinkle!

Looks weird.

Can you please comment on your thorough feedback? Thanks @jasoncuellar123.

Looks a bit busy, but certainly good enough to put to use right away. Keep it simple.

I must agree with a few points indeed!
1. I will try that to see how it looks. I like the 3D look to be honoust since it's something which isn't used much although I also want to make it as mainstream as possible and not to flashy. BUT it complements the value i'll deliver in terms of product and service.
2. Requested this to my designer.
3. Hmmmm, need to look into this one.
4. The reason why I want the U orange is because it breaks the coloring in three since they are three words and also the right side op the U will be an arrow like on the following image

upload_2019-1-9_8-1-1.png

5. I also noticed this and it will be changed indeed. Thanks.
6. I also didn't like the lines. The word will be TopUp Auctions where up will orange again.

Thanks for your valuable feedback @Dark Water.

What do you mean different styles? Are they different font types?

Thanks for the feedback @Will-v-the-World!

I must say in the beginning I didn't expect to much response but I just woke up and I'm gratefull for your time to give me your insights.

Thanks a bunch!

Auction site logos are usually fun and friendly.

I can’t really tell what it is your website does from looking at it.

I like the 3-D look. Overall, it's classy.

A bit dreary though. Crayons come in many colors - I'd use a lot more color.

Since the A is so stylized, the T looks a bit stark and dull.

Do people associate those "gavel" hammers with auctions still? I do, but I may be old fashioned. If they do, I'd make the T a gavel, with shiny gold bands on each side of the hammer faces, and an ornate handle - all oak wood, of course. Maybe cock it 20 degrees or so to the left or right - not a "head on" look (pivot - NOT lean left or right). Be brave in tweaking designs.

The tag line is WAY too small. It doesn't "punch" out the meaning as it should. That's what logos are supposed to do - PUNCH and be noticed.

Hi @jasoncuellar123,

Thanks for getting back to me. I can't see what google, ebay and amazon do when looking at their logo's too. I think it's also the recognition after time passes and your website gets more famous and recognized.

Thanks for your reply.

1) What I feel is that if you make the U a different color from the other two, it breaks up the cohesiveness of the logo (it's important for a logo to look "whole" / united and not separate bits joined together).
Another reason for giving the color only to A instead of U is because of the name "TopUp Auctions".

For the 3D effects, it can get messy when the logo is shrunk down to tiny sizes, especially if you want to use it in your email avatar, or social media account / instant-messaging logos.

2) IMO, the version you showed above is actually worse than the original one. Too many things going on here. Drop-shadow and bevel effects + now all the alphabets have their own different style. As mentioned earlier, I would personally keep the T and U simple, and let only A have that wavy flow in its shape. Generally, logos should have only 1 thing that stands out while the rest should be less attention-seeking.

Point 1. I must say you convinced me ;). Thanks for that one. Only see how it looks after it has been changed.

Point 2. I'm looking into this one too since it's important that it looks the same everywhere. That's why I'm thinking of doing two things seperately.
-TUA will be my avatar/profile logo
-TopUp Auctions will be placed below my logo on my webside header but will be increase to twice the width of the TUA logo. What do you think?

Point 3. This one was just a raw mockup. What do you think of the arrow on the U.

Thanks again for the help.

All the best,
Amro

Honestly you've already overthunk this x98712938

The logo is not what's gonna make or break the biz

I bet 99% of logos just die on someones desktop

To make logos I literally just type in the letters in photoshop and select a font and F*ck around with it

Here you go - this logo will do - it's got blocks too - get it? auction block? zzz

So it seems you will be opening some form of auction site?

If thats the case, then I'd like to prepare you.

Your logo is going to be the LEAST of your concern in this process.

Things you might never consider can be the biggest pain in getting this going.

A good example that I happen to know quite a bit about is payment processing, in case you will be taking credit cards.

Finding a payment processor that will allow you to process payments for an auction site can be very difficult. Let alone if you find one, you need to make sure that you win credit card disputes/chargebacks that some customers WILL MAKE(!) when they lose the auction.

Certain payment processors might allow it, but they will most likely require a high deposit of money to sit in your payment processing account in order to cover fraud or they might be holding XX% of your revenue in their account for a running period, which can severely damage your liquidity.

Wont comment on the logo itself, since I am clueless in regards to design.

Good luck with it though.

No, this will make the whole thing ugly and clumsy from an aesthetic point of view.

In order to make the TopUp Auctions text twice the width of the TUA logo, the text needs to be very big and takes too much attention.

Best to just let the TUA be the hero and the words be the sidekick.

Yeah, you're right. :) Thanks for the help @Xeon!

Thanks for the reply @cy- although it's offtopic. I can't imagine them denieing me as a client. Offcourse if I start offering escrow services there will be some issue's but I'm used to issue's anyway. Since I come from the shipping industry which is ONE BIG ISSUE.

Hi,

You used Angela on Fiverr?

No, someone else.

quick question, what does your company do?

I'll provide a platform where people will be able to auction their stuff with a few unique twists. I'm still surveying the market though but I allready found some interesting painpoints.

Hi Amro,

I do logo design and branding for companies. You used Fiverr even that's a very bad place to get a logo. I won't talk why because there is no point doing that. I'll try to explain you how to fix your logo the best I can.

Consistency is very important when you're building a brand. You have 3 types of font styles in your logo. T, U and A are all different from each other. I see you want to make some or all letters special in some way, don't do that. Use the same font and make it unique in some way (not too much). You will have one of a kind logo and it will look professional.

Get rid of the tagline, you don't need it. If you want to explain your brand don't do it in the logo. Do it in ads, banners, social media content…..basically everywhere else. Logo has to be as simple as possible without losing message. You will have issues with it one day if you keep it ''busy''.

Logo isn't love on the first sight. Logo is all about time! National Geographic logo was just a yellow rectangle at the first day, but over time it has became THE YELLOW RECTANGLE everyone knows about. The same will be with your logo if you keep it simple.

Logo isn't a sentence (business), it's the dot at the end (something that give the full package to your business).

If you want to ask more, please do it.

One of logos I made, always keep it simple as possible.

Thanks for your reply but I'm leaving it like this now. I find it looks good enough for a start and to be honoust I want them to instantly see what the site is about. Visitors leave quickly because of three reasons: Loading speed, not knowing what the site is about, or not interested because of unprofessional look. Offer value in all ways and it will return in my opinion. Maybe later after I have some descent traffic I can alter it a little but for now i'll leave it like this.

This thread:

All helpful, realistic answers = ignored or answered in roundabout way

All other answers = "Thanks!"

Please explain what you mean? Thanks ;)

If you want to avoid unprofessional look, Fiverr isnt the right way.

You can have a banner on your site that will tell visitors whats the site about, dont do it in the logo.
