Hey,
First a grand salute to MJ for creating this forum and all the awesome members who share knowledge which is truly worth millions.

A little Background

I graduated from college in 2016 with a degree in computers. During college I learned about creating websites and apps and truly loved it, which led to an unspecific and stupid attempt to a Web development business.

In the last year of college I gathered some of friends who shared the same interest for Website designing as I had and convinced them to start a little Web Design and Development company. But, it turned out to be just a silly and immature attempt to show off the false Entrepreneur badge, which didn't exist. This little role playing lead us to printing visiting cards, creating company website and many more useless expenditures that didn't add to anything.

The Idea was simple, we'll call local business and ask if they want a website, but instead of picking up phones and calling to potential clients we wasted out money and time in a ton of action faking and as a result the "company" shut down in six months with zero money as profit.

Later I joined a Multinational Company which hired me through college recruitment but I couldn't clear their internal assessment exam and got kicked off.

Came back to my home town and thought of starting a local business, but the thought of needing a capital made me take a job at a local school teaching computers. I thought I would save some money and with that as a capital I'll start a food delivery service but didn't happened yet.

My Present Plan
My present plan is simple, I just need to earn the same amount of money monthly with my side business as I am with my current job. This will allow me to quit my job and focus entirely on learning and scaling the business I'll be having.

And my side business will be Freelance Writing, I know its pretty competitive but with the right amount of effort I'm pretty sure I can make it work.

I'll make a few sample pieces to show off my work and try to get some guest posting opportunities in Self Improvement niche, since I have interest in that.

What I'm struggling with...
Currently I'm struggling with tons of self doubt and lack of action. I constantly feel like no one's going to buy my service and I'll be left with just wasted time and effort. And one more issue I'm dealing with is my unending need to feed myself with information. I always feel like I still have to know more before I begin.

I've found a little solution to these problems, I'll just write a to-do list of three tasks that will fulfill my daily goal towards my business.

----------------------------------------------

I know it's a pretty big intro and thanks for keeping the patience to read it. I know what I'm trying to achieve is not Fastlane but I'm pretty sure if I move with a proper plan and take continuous action then I'll be on my Fastlane eventually.

If anyone of you have any suggestions for me then please let me know.

Once again thanks for having me on the forum. This forum has changed lives of many and I know it can change mine.

Welcome!

Do read TMF and/or UNSCRIPTED to get up to speed.

Oh my...
Just throw your clients a phone number when they ask for it.
Cards can wait.

Later I joined a Multinational Company which hired me through college recruitment but I couldn't clear their internal assessment exam and got kicked off.
Sorry about that.
Was the exam hard?

And my side business will be Freelance Writing, I know its pretty competitive but with the right amount of effort I'm pretty sure I can make it work.
Some fields are competitive. Some aren't.

I've seen writing jobs for academic proofreading, research, as well as niche stuff like health and industry reports on Upwork. The waiting list of freelancers is like around 20-30 for those, compared to the typical magazine/ content biz jobs bidding list levels of up to 50!

Just don't be a general writer that does anything and everything. Your focus will be scattered like dust, then. Make sure you understand a certain field of writing very well, to help folks in that area.

I constantly feel like no one's going to buy my service and I'll be left with just wasted time and effort.
People WILL buy the service.
The question is whether enough of them will. But you'll only find that out after the first sales. Not all demand is created equal.

And one more issue I'm dealing with is my unending need to feed myself with information. I always feel like I still have to know more before I begin.
Me too.
Understand that the world changes every day, along with technology.
We will always hunger after information.

The trick is to know what knowledge you need to hunger for. Accounting? Sales? Supply chain?
But you won't know what to hunger for until you did some work, in which 5 minutes into the job, you realise, 'Oh, I need it.'

Thanks, ZF Lee for the reply.

Welcome!

I've already ordered TMF and after finishing it I'll go for the UNSCRIPTED .

That's exactly what I'm trying to do. I'll specify my writing to Self Improvement topics and Internet Marketing topics (since I've developed sort of enthusiasm for that also).

Me too.

You're right, I need to put constraints on what kind of knowledge will fulfill my current need and is relevant to the task at hand.

Hey, thanks for the welcome. I'm already following his "15 days to copywriting" series. I'll also look for other freelancing threads by Lex.
