If you got on the fastlane and managed to make more money than you could ever spend, what would you do next?

Would you try to prolong your life beyond the normal age?

Perhaps, look at helping clean up environment?

Education and food for those in need?

Something else?

After I blew $1 million on racing and another $500,000 on cars and crap I might settle down and buy a 2001 minivan and start an appliance business to keep me busy. But it's just a dream.... ;)

Of all the people with money, why him? While he has been lucky, it seems as though he is several bricks shy of a full load. On the bright side, he has enough money to continue bailing himself out of jail....

I would probably contribute to efforts to increase the healthy life expectancy.
Then ...
  • Buy a luxurious home
  • Have a non-profit-organisation work on solving the "working poor" issue
  • Buy crazy VR hardware with the plan to upgrade it continuously (sad thing is I would probably spend a lot of time in a decent hyperreality ... real people are so stressful to deal with)
  • Have a sparring robot developed (Progressive Fighting System with a sophisticated training mode)
  • Have a company work on finding solutions to "depopulate" earth by creating compelling real estate elsewhere (What are the first principles of that? Can huge structures only be placed at Lagrangian points? That might be a limiting factor ... and what does the math behind powering artificial habitats look like? Cities floating over Venus sound cool ... might want to live in one - depending on the "details")
  • Have a company work on implementing "Hedonistic Sustainability" solutions on earth and maybe over Venus as well :) (Hedonistic sustainability)
  • Create a list of "3-month Rapid Skill Acquisition" projects and begin working through it

Buy most of the houses / condos & high rises in Vancouver then blow them up

Replant forests after that, maybe give away some houses to lower/middle class Canadians

Watch his video: Dan Bilzerian on Instagram: “If you hate seeing me do well, 2017 gonna be another f*cked up year for you-JH @bag_raiders”
It sums up his life. Let's be brutally honest, I'm sure all of us, at some point in time, have dreams and fantasies of doing the kind of stuff in that video.

Venus is too hot. We'd all melt. At least Mars has some probablity for sustainability. Though it has no atmosphere. I think one of Jupiter's moons might be habitable.

It seems that there could be a sweet spot regarding pressure and temperature: see Aerostat habitats and floating cities:

Would anyone consider prolonging their and their loved ones lives? Is that possible with all that money?
Eat right
Workout
Visit dentists and doctors regularly.

Biologically, it's difficult. Not impossible. I mean the human lifespan keeps going up.

Law of Conservation of energy says that Mass/energy gets transformed/transferred into something else. This is a law in the world of physics. Not sure about biology.

Natural Selection says that everything is in competition with each other. Our cells are in constant competition and that the ones who survive is due to adaptability.

Say for example the human population is continuing to grow. This causes less resources for other human beings and animals. Something will have to die off.

If humans were to prolong life causing even more population growth, it would just cause an even bigger mess on Earth.

I know a billionaire in Vancouver that has a physical illness thats hes currently trying to cure (muscle degeneration) Dont think there's a cure, which scares me because with a few billion in the bank even he cant do anything about health.

If I had more money than i could spend, I would build machines that could seperate all wastes in landfills so that the products could be recycled, with the end goal of eliminating every landfill on Earth.

It seems like such a shame that we have trillions of dollars worth of raw materials just buried in these landfills - just no one has figured out how to seperate them.

There are many billionaires and companies looking into this.
Ray Kurzweil seems to be a little optimistic that exponential growth will keep continuing. He thinks that "soon" we will in theory be able to live forever from the technological standpoint ... meaning we will outpace old age by adding more time to the healthy lifespan than passes:
Google Futurist Ray Kurzweil Hacks His Body With These

Peter Diamandis has started a company and is collecting data: Home – Human Longevity, Inc. and "Abundance - The Future is Better Than You Think" outlines all the pieces of the puzzle, for example how energy abundance could be within our grasp etc.

The other side of the equation is doing something about things other than aging. 3D printing organs is one answer there. AI will hopefully put medical advancements on an exponential growth trajectory if they are not already.

When it comes to resource scarcity, Abundance talks about how sharing the cake is a bad way to think about it. With a huge universe around us it is a question of baking more cakes.
What I am interested in is how much leverage we have. Limits like lightspeed are real "buzzkills".

This is the most important thing, without your health you have nothing.

Hire the team that will allow me to produce my creative works.
  • A children's cartoon about a depressed dragon and manic red panda who are best friends.
  • Sci-fi detective audio program.
  • Videogame about a teenage girl living on the streets.
  • Television series focusing on the origin story of a cult-leader.
These things have treatments/drafts/mockups already... It'd be nice to tackle all my passions before I die.

Edit: Oh, at the top of that list would be the big one. An epic-fantasy universe I've created. Great fodder for board games, novels, comics. That one will be fun.

For me, I'd do something within the scope of animal welfare; dogs, pigs, cows -- the unvoiced victims of human arrogance.

I've pretty much decided that any charity of my time or money won't be focused on first-world humans, but the victims of first-world humans.

Why can't you do this right now? The first 3 seem doable, and not requiring gazillions.

I'm already doing something amazing and can't afford to split focus.

What I had meant to say is:
With "all the money I could ever spend", I'd take my notebook of IDEs and bring them all to life.
