Hi,

about 6 months ago I started a own small business, because I got tired of the job I had at this time and because no one hired me (lack of degrees and work experience).

All this started when I was 17 years old and started my education as a car mechanic. Almost 4 years later after the graduation I worked here and there as a mechanic.

It was boring as hell and I decided to stop working as a car mechanic, so I started to work at different companies, mostly in the Industry, with night-shifts to get some money.

I noticed that this isn't something for me, so I was workless for around 2 years.

Since I was a PC enthusiast anyway I decided to work hard on that. 3 Years back I was going to a PC shop for a job interview, 1 day later my work started.

Now fast-forward to February 2018 my boss decided to quit the shop and re-open it at his home.
During the time I worked for him, I had the idea of a own small business about IT Security in my mind, since my boss at this time wasn't really good at this and was pretty ignorant.

So I opened my own small business. Everything was set up and ready to get customers, 2 months after the opening I had 2 cases of death and I basically didn't do anything with my business until last week.

When I opened my business I was getting a 'deadline', that means: The Job Center (Which is giving me welfare at the moment, since my business doesn't generate any money) set a deadline for 1st September 2018.

Now, with exactly 4 weeks left, I kinda struggle and don't know how to deal with it.
The 2 cases of death put me off pretty hard the last months and I did nothing with my business, but I am back on the track and now I am trying to make something out of it, if at all.

I also had a call with my old boss today (we are still in good contact and kinda friends) and he said that he might work together with me in the near future and redirect security related stuff to me, while he is still repairing PC's or Servers.

So, yeah. I don't ask for 'spoon-feed' help but maybe a little push into the right direction or some heads-up tips.

It doesn't need to be related with my business, but maybe someone has some tips on how to use my skillset 'better' and generate at least a bit of income. That's my current skillset:

— Penetrationtesting
— Server installation and hardening
— Malware reverse engineering
— Digital forensic

Thank you very much!

Hope my English is understandable, if not, just ask away if there is something unclear :)

Hi.

I appreciate your courage to solve life problem.

I suggest you cold call/ email to companies as you have skill set.

There is one site- upwork where you can find work on contractual basis.

I hope this will help.

Good luck

How about upwork or adword PPC campaign ?

How about meeting tech company owners personally and tell how you can help them.

Thats what I am currently doing. Yesterday evening I was reading through a couple of threads here on the forums about this. Also going to do some more SEO.

Going to do this aswell, go to businesses in person and tell them about their insecure servers and websites - Just need to find a way to this properly, so I won't look like a creep and maybe scare them.

Hey @gejaegert

Since you have pc related background, maybe this thread would be an interesting read for you.

GOLD! - How to Learn Code, Start a Web Company, $15k+ per month within 9 months

I know it's more related to webdesign and creating homepages, but it's also something you can start with little to no resources and start making money within a short amount of time.

Thanks for the link!
Doesn't matter if it's about Webdesign, selling vacuum cleaners or cookies. I am taking every advice, read it, understand it and build a strategy with the knowledge.

Still need to read TFM and Unscripted , but all the threads in here are also so interesting. The last 4 or 5 days were an awesome journey, I have learned more about my (financial) situation in these days than in the last 31 years of my lifetime.
