Bought inventory from a known brand - is this acceptable?

Hey people,

This is the first time I've bought inventory, and it's a product from a known brand. I'm reselling it.

Today I inspected the products and I saw that the stickers that hold the front of the packaging to the back is often loose and looks like opened. Here is a picture:

It often looks even worse, where you can cleary see that the sticker has been removed and attached again.

But also, on the front lid of the packaging there are fine scratches. The front lid is a transparant plastic lid. Here is a picture:

Is this normal? How should I deal with this? Should I buy some stickers and do the stickering over again or contact the supplier and tell them about it?

Will customers make a problem out of this and return the item?

Thanks in advance!

It looks like you have bought a batch of returns. Yes I would be surprised if your customers will be happy. They will easily work out that they have been sold something that has been sold and returned, and they will complain. I would guess that most will want a refund.

Check the advertising that led you to buy the product. Did they disclose the fact that the goods were returned stock? If not, you most likely have a good chance of returning the goods for a refund, but if you bought from someone other than the brand owner, or from their legitimate distributor, your chances will be a lot less.

Thank you very much. They didn't disclose the fact that the goods were returned stock and it is from the brand owner. I sent them an email regarding this, curious to how they are going to respond.

A little heads up.

So after some emails back and forth they allowed me to send 18 out of the 20 units back to get new ones. It needed some effort on my part to get that accepted.

It appears that they sent me a batch that got returned because it did not get sold in a clearance in the stores. They told me straight up that they need to get rid of the bad batches first, before they can send the new ones.

I had to pay 60 euros to ship the items back, and now they are telling me that they can offer to ship the next shipments for free untill the 60 euros has been cleared up.

I proposed that they send me 3 extra units (20 euro a piece) in order to get the 60 euros refunded. They do not want to do that.

It just seems unfair to get sent a bad batch on purpose and then not refund the shipping cost I had to make. On the other hand, I don't know how much to push it because they might decide not to work with me....

thoughts?

Perhaps you can decide not to work with them? If you accept this from them, they know they can do anything with you.

Be a victim or a victor. You don't need them.

To be honest, it is true, I don't really need them.

However, we could come to a mutual solution of 2 extra units and 2 times free shipping for the next orders.
