Since my daughter broke up with her boyfriend, she is so conscious about her weight and body figure. I am worried that she will not get enough nutrients. How can I convince her to eat at least 3 times a day?

Sounds like you don't know much about health. Just tell her to take a multi-vitamin if you are worried about nutrients.

I mean she is purging, I am concerned about her. I think taking vitamins will not help of she will only puke it.

Oh wow. Left out a small detail huh? Being body conscious and being bulimic are 2 different things.

In my opinion you need to convince her she has a problem if she already doesn't realize it and then give her some books on the topic. They will educate her on what's going on and give her ideas on how to fix it.

"Brain Over Binge" by Kathryn Hansen is the only book I've read on the subject. I recomend it for sure.

Good luck.

I bet she doesn't realize it and if that's her way of coping, then I disagree. Letting her read a book sounds a good idea. Is the book suitable/interest for her age? BTW she is 15 years old.

How about consulting a specialist diet planner that will consider her needs and plan out a diet with essential nourishment.

agreed. although there may be some medical professionals on here, its best you get her situated with some medical help and expertise in your area. This could turn to a serious issue if not handled promptly.

It doesn't sound like she is just body conscious. It does sound like she could be in the early stages of developing an eating disorder.

Eating disorders are not something to tread lightly with and most of the time it's about control not the food itself. You need to get her into therapy in my opinion. Eating disorders are considered mental disorders and teenagers girls will treat their body like crap if it gives them the control they are looking for. Trust me I know and have been there. It's very easy to develop a complicated unhealthy approach to food that will follow her into adulthood. There's 1-800 helplines that she can call when she is triggered, a lot of websites also have free chats online with volunteers. Honestly, I would study her eating habits and then move forward from there. Does she binge and purge. How much money does she spend on food? Does she have lots of food wrappers in her trash. Is she hiding food? Cutting it up in a million pieces before eating it? These are all signs and i've seen them all. Most of the time, eating disorders need treatment. People just don't 'snap' out of them.

How old is she? Tell her about intermittent fasting. She might catch on and try that instead.

Sounds like an eating disorder due to her emotions. Take her to see a therapist and nutritionist
