Hello Everyone,

My name is Mike, and I live in NJ. I'm 26 years old, work a corporate finance job, and I'm a prime example of someone following the "get rich slow" path. Just as the Millionaire Fast Lane book talks about, I've been working a decent job for a Fortune 500 company, contributing to my 401k, investing some of my other savings into ETFs, and ultimately getting nowhere fast financially.

I've always had an interest in entrepreneurship and working for myself, but I've never really attempted to make the leap. I've always made an excuse not to whether it was not having the funds, the skillset, etc. Well recently I've been thinking about this a lot, and although I don't have an idea in mind, I decided to learn some different skills to set myself up for when I do.

It was actually on this forum where I found some suggested HTML, CSS, and web development tutorial/guides. I've been tackling these for a few hours most nights over the last couple weeks and really enjoying it. I know I'm very early in the process of even attempting to get in the fast lane, but as I'm learning these new skills and reading the Millionaire Fast Lane book, I feel extremely inspired and motivated to get there.

I look forward to being a part of this online community!

Hey Mike, welcome to the forum

Not sure if I'm the best one for qm introduction but I resonated with your post. I'm also 26 good job 401k contributions etc, I just woke up one morning at thought "I have another 40+ years of this crap?!?" I recently withdrew my 401k and will on be starting a business with the funds shortly. Although I'm teetering between an app or dropshipping but both are pretty saturated. I may have to chill until the next wave comes along(crypto? VR?) I've also started a rap career in the mean time but I'm starting to see rap is more about marketing than skill.

Apps are saturated?

There's no app to develop that doesn't exist?

Still money to be made in drop-shipping too, although that's not a model I would want to go after.

I may have to chill until the next wave comes along(crypto? VR?)

Wait? The waves are here!

The best time to get into either would've been a couple of years ago. But now is a much better time to get into either than 2 years from now.

This is one of the reasons why I really like the vibe in this community. Lots of proactive people in here to debunk over-thinking.

It's funny you mention this. If I have any entrepreneur experience, it's when I made and sold some hip hop beats back early on in college. I only made a couple hundred dollars, but I did find that it depended heavily on marketing. It's not that quality wasn't important - all the beats that were selling at least sounded clean and crisp... However, a lot of the beats that were selling sounded so simple, and just weren't interesting or good in my opinion. It seemed that the most important aspect was marketing and figuring out how to get it in front of people and that led to sales. Whereas I'd hear some guys that made amazing sounding beats that weren't creating a ton of sales because they were struggling putting their product in front of buyers.

couldn't agree more, Im currently doing music technology in college mostly just familiarising my self with Logic and i have noticed there are some really talented producers out there that wont get recognition for example one of my friends who uses FL has some crazy productions but he doesn't really bother taking the time out to properly market them so they with out a doubt always fly under the radar.

The ironic part is people with good marketing seem to have more generic beats and the people with the unique production styles dont have much interests in marketing i guess because they just enjoy producing. There are of course some obvious exceptions with both skills.

Totally agree - if you are in it "to create a great app" you'll probably flop, but seeking for problems is the key. I have tons of problems I'd love to pay for to have fixed (in my field - healthcare) by a good app, but can't find one.
Set your eyes on problemsolving (there was a great thread about one guy, who made like 7 apps and failed, but once he started asking people, what problems they had, he created a winning app and sold it if i remember correctly)

Thank you all for being so welcoming. I held off for a few months on introducing myself, but everyone on the forum seems very supportive, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Since it has been awhile, have you made any progress or gained any grounding? Have you read both of MJ’s books?

Hi Arun. What I actually meant is I signed up for the forums a few months ago and kind of left it. Over the past couple of weeks I've revisited this forum, bought and have started the Millionaire Fast Lane book, started some HTML and CSS tutorials. I only introduced myself yesterday, but I plan on being active here going forward.

Glad that you are able to start on something. This is what this place is about; ignition and then your execution will come from within;

Hope you get a lot out of this forum. Good luck.
