Hey Guys,

Recently, I posted a thread about which project to persue. I choose to finish an e-commerce plugin for WordPress I've planned. Feature-wise the product is finished. It is very very basic, but that is it strength. It simplifies a difficult process and is very robust.

I still need to do the documentation, tutorial video's etc.

Next up, copywriting. I don't have money yet to outsource this endevour to someone who is more skilled than I'm, so i would ask the following:

1. I watched a video about primal desire, should i apply this to copy writing.
2. What's the deal about the 'Rolls Royce Ad'? And where can I find it?
3. What is the main structure of a sales page?
4. Which books learns me to build a decent sales page to start selling (a.k.a not completely putting people off).

A couple things.

A) My Grammarly is lighting up your post like a fireworks display. While proper grammar is not the most important thing when it comes to copywriting, your plulgin could look unprofessional if it has consistent errors.

B) It seems like you're asking questions but you're not quite sure what you want to know. You want to know how to create a well-done page that get your plugin sold, but your questions are a touch off-base.

Sort of like, if you wanted to lose weight. But you were asking, "I saw a video that intermittent fasting is good. Should I do that? What about pre-workout before I got to the gym?" Those are good questions, but for now, just start with your diet and a bit of exercise.

Now, on to your questions! (And sorry if that was rude)

1. Can you tap into a primal desire with your plugin? Do you understand primal desire?

2. This is the ad. http://blog.bradleygauthier.com/wp-...d-ogilvy-rolls-royce-silver-cloud-ad-1958.jpg

It's well known because of the headline. We could discuss the merits of it, but that's an entire post of itself. It's a big part of a lot of copywriter's education, but there's no need for you (at the moment) to waste time reading up on it.

3. You can start with these for a rough idea: The 10 Essential Ingredients of Successful Sales Pages - Copyblogger
How to Write a Sales Page That Succeeds
https://blog.kissmetrics.com/structure-longform-landing-page/

4. If you're going to jump straight into it, I suggest Ca$hvertising. It's FULL of good tips and is one of the best books to reference. There are better, more detailed works, but if you have to have ONE book, choose that one.

NOW! On to my questions/advice.

1) If you want to sell your plugin, who are you selling it to? Get exact with this. It's NOT just people who are into e-commerce (it's never that simple). Are these newbies? People who are scaling up? Big time boys like Biophase? Do they need to know how to code? Are they focusing all their efforts on one store or do they have twenty? Let's get in the head of your target market.

2) How can you agitate the pain that this plugin solves? Are they just WASTING time? More than that, are they bleeding revenue because they're losing customers? Make this pain real. Make it bloody.

3) What relief do you bring? Not just, "Well the flux capacitor resolves the spriggly-spracket in the Nautical-Widget-Face" but "You can save six hours of travel time. What can you do with that much time? Take your wife out for a romantic meal? Enjoy a couple of mai tais on the beach?"

EDIT: Also! Great job making the plunge! You're rolling out a product and bring it ot market. That's HUGE.

Thank you for writing such a thorough response and telling me what I needed to hear. I ordered the book and will do some serious thinking about the target market and which pain the product really solves and go from there :)
