I'm happy to help anyway I can. I didn't get a lot of entrepreneurial training in PT school (which is understandable but also sorta sad). I am happy to share what I know. I'll share my story—the good, the bad, and the ugly— soon. In the meanwhile, is there something specific I can help with?

By the way, I think M J DeMarco's books and this forum are tremendous resources. I wish I had them 17 years ago when I was starting my first business.

I'm happy to share. I own several businesses now. The one that mostly pays the bills is a Medicare-certified home health agency located north of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas (the town is Denton in case you want specifics). I will share in a longer post soon. The short answer—I didn't know what I was doing when I started it 17 years ago. I learned by failing (a lot) and succeeding (enough to get by). We're now in our 17th year and we're having our best year ever. That being said, you won't find me on the cover of Forbes or Fortune. But it has been good for me, allowing me to provide for my family (including 4 kids and their stay-at-home mom), freedom to travel, etc.

Thanks for asking!

Ron

Ron I actually do have a question about healthcare.

I just moved to the US from Canada and am wondering how I should go about health insurance? I don't care about fancy coverage; I just want to avoid getting into massive debt if I were to be involved in a accident of some sort. Being an entrepreneur, I'm not benefiting from any sort of coverage from an employer.

Thanks buddy!

Welcome Ron! Interesting areas you are involved in. I got a question about physical care: which do you think are key elements to keep the body healthy throughout life in terms of types of exercises? I see a lot of people who do weight lifting suffering terrible pains later on in life, myself I started doing yoga to add more flexibility to my workouts and it has been working greatly.

So much depends on where you live. I would seek out an independent insurance agent who represents a variety of insurance companies. Ask about the insurance companies' fiscal health (will they be there/pay when you need them?) and customer satisfaction (will you hate yourself for having to deal with them?). If you're looking for catastrophic coverage (accidents, not necessarily check ups for your bunions), I would look for a higher deductible plan to save you money. $6K to $10K is not uncommon these days. It all depends on what you can afford and the level of risk you're comfortable with. You can also (frequently, not universally) negotiate with health care providers for a cash price (since they don't have the overhead associated with filing insurance). I could give you more specific feedback if you want it. I don't know what the protocol for sharing personal information on this forum is, but if you google me I'm pretty easy to find. Not because I'm famous—I've just got an unusual name.
