Hi everyone,
very impressed with the quality of the forum, and it's good to find like minded people further down the road than myself.
Myself and my wife have a investment property in cyprus that we are looking to sell in around 2 years, which is projected to give us £60-80k in growth. Prior to that Im currently looking at investment properties to use for cashflow.
The market conditions in the UK mean that it would be very difficult to find a cash positive deal and with prices set to fall 30% over the next 2 years I be better setting fire to my cash now and save myself the hassle.
My plan is that the lump sum from the sale of the cyprus property will be available for UK property when the market is close to it's lowest.
I've spent a good amount of time looking at worldwide locations for BTL (almost went for a new holiday development in st lucia) but found that a lot of property that offered a decent cashflow in the short term were located in New York State.
I don't have any local knowledge of course and can only go on information on sites like themovechannel so I was hopeful for some input from people here as to the best areas in the States to research.

Are these prices / yields realistic? Are the companies hiding hidden costs?
I'm hoping to travel out in the next month or 2 to view properties and would love to meet people who are making money in BTL, hopefully to work with or at least talk with people who could advise me and put me in contact with a good management companies.
Also I'm open minded as to if people think this sort of a an investment can be run more or less remotely.
