Hey everyone! So I created my own introduction thread a couple of months ago, but haven’t created a new thread since. So today, I decided to make one for my “summer project” I am starting to work on.
My Fastlane business is that I am starting my own franchising company, basically what I want to do is to own hundreds of fast food franchises throughout the country. I know that some people do not believe that franchising is a Fastlane business, but I do believe that with my business plan, and how I am approaching this task, it can definitely be Fastlane.
Over the last year, I have been in the process of choosing a company I wanted to be a franchisee for, and more importantly coming up with the capital in order to start my business. As of last week, both of these tasks are completed. I have raised the capital, I have chosen the company I want to franchise, and I have submitted my application to become a franchisee-now it is just a matter of waiting until I hear back from the corporate office. Now, I am finding myself getting really restless, and I am trying to find something to do, but I do not having any specific task to complete. So, I’ve decided to create a “summer project”: I am going to build an iPhone app.
I taught myself HTML and Python a couple of years ago, but I only know the very basics of Objective-C, which is the language used for IOS apps. So, before I start building my app, I am going to spend the next few weeks to a month learning Objective-C.
So here is my plan:
1) First, I am going to spend 2-4 weeks learning Objective-C. I already have knowledge in code, and so I am hoping I can pick up on it fairly quickly.
2) After I’ve learned objective-C, I am going to start building my app. I have a couple of different ideas for the app, but haven’t decided on a specific one yet.
3) I want to have the app up in running in the App Store by beginning-mid August, this gives me time to learn Objective-C and build the app.
4) After the app is up, I am going to start marketing it. I have a couple of low-cost marketing ideas that I think could be pretty effective.
5) I am going to set a budget for around $500, this provides me with money to become an Apple Developer, which costs $100, and the rest I am going to spend on marketing, and any tools I need for learning the code.
My main goal for this app is to get it up and running and to obviously try and make some money off of it. More than anything this is something that will be a nice challenge and i'd prefer to be spending my time doing this, rather than spending 2-3 hours a day playing the guitar, which is what I've been doing this past week.😀
Since I am currently in the waiting period for my franchising, over the next few months I will spend my days at my summer-job, and I plan on spending my free time working on the app and learning code. I made this thread, mainly to force myself to follow through with the goal, and I think that this thread will be a great place to keep track of my progress from week to week, as well as to hear input from you guys.
If anyone has any advice, input, or tips, I would love to hear them! Thanks everyone!
