I can think of several ways.

Ecommerce dropshipping
Start a blog, podcast
Write books, newsletters
Offer services such as wordpress installs, coding

In fact, your question is no different than for someone living in a big city. The biggest question is, what are your skills?

He's in the middle of the desert, his customers are not.
Exactly what I was thinking. Just because you're in the desert doesn't mean that you're stuck with serving customers there. So, the e-commerce idea has merit. You can do anything that anyone else here does via the internet.

Anyone of these things! Plus add copyrighting to your skills of mastery. I'm not in the desert, However I haven't left my house for three days and I secured a customer that is willing to pay me 1k to train them online (Skype/Google hangouts). I'm starting out with less than $40. Start here to learn copywriting https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...ert-30-day-challenge-copywriting-group.50217/

Holy shnykies...the online ice cream shop is actually getting people to take action. Respect.

GET THE ICE CREAM.

But can he accept payments via the traditional means? paypal / cc? Many countries are blocked

Move, someone living in a blocked country is likely to have many more problems than blocked PayPal.
True..but many passports aren't as good as U.S passports. I'm not saying your advice is bad..but telling a Syrian, Lebanese, Iranian..to simply move is not the most actionable advice.

My American naivete plays here but, these days Syrian's and Iranian's might have greater issues than starting a fast lane business. And, many are in fact moving so to speak.

My answer was glib and was meant to be. If we want to pursue a dream, we must first be in an area which supports that dream at least in some small way. Unless that dream is massive social change which is not fast-lane.

So, it seems the parameters need to be better explained in this situation by the OP.

Agreed. UAE or Qatar..even kuwait..are much different than many places near by. I'm not trying to start an argument here but I've spent enough time in the M.E to know that it's far from a level playing field.

If the OP cares to share his location there may be members who can help him out a bit more.

This is truly an amazing forum! never thought there would be people interested to help out.

Anyway...

I would agree it's far from a level playing field where I'm at, would rather go back to my country (S.E. Asia) but labor laws and companies here create crappy, racist laws and contracts (3 months before you can quit, and you won't get paid your last month's salary AND you need to pay for your ticket home...I know, I was kinda desperate at that time) not to mention the pay- you could never save with such chump change (another reason why I asked if only I had the internet, can I create a fastlane? that's the only resource I have right now).

I never lose hope, the more reason why I want to create a fast lane business in spite of 6 working days and 10 to 12 hour shifts. Any suggestion you guys can give me would be highly appreciated.

My skills are copywriting and other online e-commerce stuff. Been trying to look for clients but so far to no avail.. any suggestions?

Hi People,

First post and slightly nervous but hey..

The desert will have extremely hot weather which would cause you to de-hydrate so I agree on supplying water(Need). If there is no transport, that would be a need. also I was thinking if you were to come across locals or a town near, Air conditioning Units wouldn't be a bad idea. Solar panels would be abit OTT I guess...Drop-shipping??

I will appreciate your opinions/corrections/advice :)

@RyanFerrer would you care to share which country you are in?

sure! Oman: an hour drive outside Dubai.

Not sure if you've considered this but..there is a pretty decent demand for Omani souvenirs. Specifically, the "khanjar". Since you live there I'm sure you might be able to acquire them at a very reasonable cost. You could pay for a few in Omani Rials and list them on Ebay for a decent markup in USD. Here's a link to some listings I found on ebay: http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_odkw...TRC0.Xomani+dagger&_nkw=omani+dagger&_sacat=0

This could be a way to quickly come up with some $$$ to help pave the way for a real Fastlane project which meets CENTS and is scalable.

OK, so considering your situation, forget fastlane.

Your first goal should be to finish with your current job that takes you hostage for 6 days a week 10 hours per day.
As long as that's your job creating a fastlane is impossible.

If I were you I'd start offering my copywriting skills on Odesk, Elance and other freelancing sites.
Try to learn to set up websites for as well.

For those type of jobs that you can do freelance, you don't need infrastructure around you. Just you and a computer.

What's more these type of projects will give you the skills and the time to pursue your fastlane ideas.

Good luck!
