I'm following the program to a T. I however want to have some material available after I'm done with the challenge, thats why I suggested the dropbox.

Oh I didnt mention it but it is said that you'll need to read breakthrough advertising at least 7 times before you get that book. Couple that with using the books we have as references in your copy...plus there is advertising swipe files that gary didnt name but he named the authors of those that you will need to study outside of the links I gave you. You'll have plenty to occupy you once this portion is done trust me,lol.

I'm not going to take my copied Copy to a typist lol

Lol, yea, I didn't plan on doing that part either.

Before you get what book?

And....

7 times? I must've missed that part. The way I understood it, it was read the books once, and then a step or two down, you read them again but take notes.

Is this a good idea for a newb like me? There seems so much to learn in general from this site SEO, Copymarketing, Sales etc. I have no idea what to prioritize but plenty of free time at the moment.

I think he means before "you understand it".

I think SEO should be learned last. Why drive traffic to a site if it's not set up to convert? I'm starting with copywriting because It will apply to any business I ever set up in life. What if I come across someone who has a good idea and just can't figure out how to sell it? Bam! I now have exclusive rights to sell it! And I have those rights because I proved I CAN SELL IT! This is just one of the millions of scenarios I can think of.

If you must...maybe you can lead for the next batch.

I myself am going to shoot for the 30 days with others, but, it is just our ambition. I dont want to curse it :)

Anyways, there are a couple of people who mention going at their own pace, and, as you see a couple of people who are deviators of the whole program(uh oh). Anywho, just get in where you fit in.

No worries. I plan to follow it exactly. I was just curious how structured the group will be.

nah i mean after we have completed and you are doing your copywriting after completing the challenge you will still want to read the books you have and breakthrough advertising is a tough read to understand from what other copywriters have said. You will need to read it more than once like the bible or any other doctrine to get the true meaning of it. 7 times before you master the teachings in that book(more or less).

If you dont have the money then fine, but, otherwise:

Now, after you've done all this, I want you to actually take one of these packages to a typist and then to a typesetter and have the ad or direct mail package typeset. Then proof the ad and, after making any necessary corrections, have a velox (stat) made of it.

Do this. Do it. Do it. Don't be simple-minded. Don't come to me and say, "O.K., Gary, I've got the idea. I know what you're getting at. It really wasn't necessary for me to do all that mechanical stuff as long as I understand what you're driving at, right Gary?"

Sorry Buckwheat; it doesn't work that way. If you really want to knowit, you've really got to do it.

There are no shortcuts.

You know, I'm sick to death of people who can't be bothered with the little nitty-gritty details of "hands on" experience. Of people who believe that somehow they can know a thing without experiencing it.

Since my thread got hijacked… lol. I'm all in. I don't know the first thing when in comes to earning money online or by computer but I'm willing to learn. Only positive things can be derived from it.

If we are going to have a 30 period to achieve a goal and hopefully create a habit, we need to establish stringent daily goals. They need to be broken down otherwise we are just pissing up a rope. Remember it's all about goal setting.

I wouldn't mind to create a daily plan but I don't even know where to start with copywriting.

Hahaha, nice! A member of the forum and I started this in a secret FB group a while back...except I had/have too much 'on my plate' so she got started with Gary's advice and I'll have to wait until later.

I didn't want to mention it before but I have all the stuff Gary Halbert mentioned saved in the cloud in a ZIP file in PDF format. I might add some other stuff there too. Has someone already done it with DropBox though?

Right @oldfool. One thing at a time. One book. One sales letter. One expert copywriter.

I've been scared of one thing at a time for too long. Finally came back to my senses. Best feeling in the world.

Just finished The Boron Letters. (was halfway through before this challenge).

Sure I'll see if his stuff is the same as mine. I can personally do things solo w/o much trouble, but there is an app/website you can use to organize this a bit better: https://lift.do/

I am on there but haven't familiarized myself with it yet. It is used for accountability and tracking, perfect for this ;)

take my first link read it. make a commitment to do everything it says until finished. It is all on the page. I dont know how long it takes you to read a book, or, complete assignments. some things noone can tell you, (like when to breath) some things you have to discover on your own. Creating daily goals is a difficult one because that is subjective. I personally have a hard time writing goals unless it is either like journal or a bucket list structure. SMART goals dont work for me. I tried brian tracy work sheet and that didnt last either. I actually feel like this is what I should be doing. I am getting an esoteric feel studying copy. It translate to personal life. Strange but it works for me. I dont have to write a goal because I am in the goal.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I said almost the same exact thing to my fiancee over dinner. I think it is becuase we are getting a glimpse behind the "producers" curtain after only seeing it from the consumers side for so many years. This s**** makes the world go round. I'm starting to see all the ice cream.

Have you read the other back issue newsletters as well? I commend you on giving this a go on your own. Maybe you can give us a report if you do the offline advert assignment. I'd like to see your mock up when you get that far since you're ahead of the class :)

Actually this isnt my first time reading these books, I just never completed the assignments. I had a couple of lightbulbs go off today. Plus I see the information in a different light then last time read. Glad I have others in here though, I feel kinda obligated to complete the task.

I started out writing out the back issues LOL. But since moved onto 'Gary's favorite ads'. So far I've written out:

The headline to the infamous Rolls-Royce Ad. (Ogilvy)
Water Ad (Gary) <-- really cool
Coat-of-Arms Ad
...and some other ads by some other guys.

I haven't even thought about doing the offline part. Typing them up...etc. I just write them out on white Printer Paper... why printer paper you ask? Surely there must be a method to his madness?

No method.

...

Just an unopened package of 2,500 sheets of paper in my closet.

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm in, and will shoot for the 30 days. I order Boron Letters a couple of days ago per another's recommendation. I'll start my time on Feb. 1st and end by March 1st. Easy to remember.

I uploaded the stuff to https://mega.co.nz/ since they give 50 GB for free vs 2 GB free with Dropbox  I'll PM you though, hold on. I have A LOT of files man, not just on copywriting too. The only things I have up on my MEGA account are the Gary Halbert files since I created it not long ago...more will come later though
