For anyone wondering...

When I bought the van I wasn't sure I could do much more with it than scrapping/pulling a few parts for resale. I based this off things the seller was telling me, like "transmission is about to go out. Compressor is shot so it doesn't blow cold", and several other things.

Since I had no desire to extensively look it over in his driveway, I bought it for scrap price. He originally asked $400.

Trailered it home and looked through it, fixed what was wrong with it - trans was low on fluid. Topped it off and tested it. Showed no signs of slipping. Serpentine was nearly shredded and falling off. Replaced that and tensioner. Needed new belt on AC pump and she was blowing cold. All in all I'd say about 5 hours work (includes picking up, fixing & meeting with buyer) netted me $1,900.

If you're mechanical or have a buddy who's willing to work with you there is a decent chunk of change to be made on CL from people that just do not maintain their vehicles (or vehicles that break down and owner opts not to repair, and instead sell for cheap). This guy even admitted he knew nothing about cars and by the looks under the hood it showed. Body was immaculate though with the exception of a dent in tailgate/door.

I was having second thoughts about traveling out of state to purchase an old van with no AC. In San Diego, you don't need AC. Guy is selling the van low due to no AC. You changed my mind. Its worth the hassle of traveling to at least check it out. Thanks.

Really good thread. First time I read it. However I think it's better to sell information products rather than physical products. Less headaches and demand less of your time.

(Posted this in your other thread as well, but this is the original Hustler's Guide)

Ryan,

I don't know you personally and we live tens of thousands of miles away from one another, but I felt I had to post this.

We're roughly the same age and I can relate to some of your thoughts.

It was your very thread, the Hustler's Guide to Buying and Selling Anything, that started it all for me. Six months ago I had a mountain of ambition and $1250 to my name. Today, I average a $10,000 monthly profit at around 20 hours of work a week. I won't even look up before I make $25,000 per month.

There's billions of people in this world and plenty of money to go around. $1,000 a month should be your target for August, you have done this before. Your year end's goal should be no less than 10,000 a month. Come on, you got this.

It's YOU who is gonna have to make it, no one else. Stop feeling depressed, acting cynic, avoid self-hatred or even empty joy. Emotions will make - or brake you. Get your act together and go after who you are really meant to be.

I'd be honoured to have your insight on how to scale hustling and divorce it from your time. Here's my story so far:

I'm far from an expert yet, but if in one week I can purchase over $1,000 worth of stuff with no initial investment

How do you purchase with no investment? You're either purchasing, or, you're not, am I right?

Better to sell SOMETHING.. ANYTHING, than nothing at all.

i bought my ps3 a year ago for 170 and sold it a couple months ago for the same price

During my time in high school I had a PS3 that broke. I learned how to fix it online and started a little eBay business operation with that knowledge and an idea.

After fixing my PS3 and selling it successfully on eBay (with a little profit). I bought two more broken ones, fixed them and sold them for nice profit. It took me about 1 hour to fix each of them and I did it focused/fast, but I also had to take time bidding on ones I wanted to buy, selling fixed ones, etc. I enjoyed it though :)

I also sold gum packets throughout all of my classes for very good profit during freshman year ;)

I have been doing this for years. Like you I also buy a lot of collectibles. I am 27 have been doing this for over 10 years. I buy/sell toys, video games, comic books, collectibles, used to make money off steelbooks, exclusives and just about every single type of comic convention exclusive.

It's great to find some other people who also make money off similar things.

Update... It took a little longer than I wanted but I sold 5 of the pallet jacks for a profit of $450 and I kept one for my own use. I am thinking of selling the last one also I don't really need it.

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT

I'm in the process of writing an ebook outlining exactly what went down in this journey from start to finish. I will be including never before shared details of my struggles and triumphs, as well as the stories of some of the new hustlers that I've been mentoring.

I will include some stories of crazy debauchery, namely how I blew through all the money faster than I made it, and what I learned from that 'party hard' period of my life. Also there will be the stories of how $1,000 in singles ($1) arrived in my mailbox unannounced wrapped in newspaper, and the time that I was interviewed by the huffington post (due to some of my spending debauchery). You will also read about how on the spur of the moment I dropped everything, grabbed a girl I'd never met before, and flew her to Vancouver with me. Ended up meeting/hanging out with Ed Sheeran. All of which was financed directly with my hustling profits.

I will share my moments of extreme desperation when my bedroom was overtaken by hundreds of pairs of children shoe's and how I nearly gave up. The shoes ended up going to an Kenyan orphanage, and I made a profit on them. I will share how it was done.

You'll learn how to sell, what to sell, when to sell. You'll be able to avoid many of the stupid mistakes that I was forced to learn along the way. It will save you time and money on every deal. I will offer a comprehensive guide to hustling video games and video game systems, which was my bread and butter in the hustling game.

Publishing date will be in October, just in time for the Christmas season which is the best time to be hustling.

Oh yeah, and mandatory post of the singles lol;

Who wants to trade???

any interesting items you folks got in here, to bring to a developing market in Saudi ???

At present, any people, with connections to metal factories, could you please get in touch with me !!
i might have something to offer.

does not matter which country you are from, as long as you have the connection, and obviously, i get a good margin after retailing it in my market, then we could have a deal !!!

awaiting you folks replies.

PM directly ! :)

How do you purchase with no investment? You're either purchasing, or, you're not, am I right?

you could actually do that, with a pre-hand RFQ for that specific item and L/C terms with any supplier of that item.
It would definitely give you enough time to sell, without personal investment.

my 2 cents !! hope it helps :)

SO I guess its my time to post with some of my sales.
I work full time but sell comics, toys, video games, coins, Nikes, etc. Basically anything that can make a profit. I also flip domains but that is another devil. I did buy an $8 expired domain and sold it to a company 2 days later for $1,250 - but this is a little harder to replicate..

I make good money selling comic books - if you have never done it, I suggest you start. With all the new marvel/dc upcoming movies - comics are insanely hot right now. This is the best time to flip.

Some of my better deals have been buying a comic for $2,400 - sold it for $3,500 in 2 weeks. Bought 1 more for $2,500 sold again for $3,500. IF you are someone that does not have that much to invest, well I also paid $200 for a book that I sold for $600.

I am currently writing a guide that specifically mentions how I do this but am not posting anything about it here. If you are curious about comics feel free to PM me.

I also make a few hundred bucks at every comic convention I go to as well...

Ryan, I want to thank you from bottom of my heart. I am renewing this year in UNI and I have basically year to rest (only got 3 classes to take care of). Everyday I would just slack and leech, but after reading this thread, you finally inspired me to take action. Right now I am making a deal with PS3 for 90 euros, I plan to jailbreak it and sell it for 200 euros. I hope I will be able to keep doing this. Best of luck to you.
P.S. I will gladly buy your ebook!

Care to share some details? I'm seeing people who are leaving Affiliate/CPA marketing and now you say information products have been a nightmare for you. I'm asking because all of the above are things I was ready to get into and have already somewhat. If I can avoid the things that didn't work for you, it can save me time too. I lost a lot of that already and I am super careful with it now. No more wasting time! Thanks man

Dealing drugs doesn't count. If what you do risks your freedom, your family, and all of your personal belongings then you're in the wrong business.

So this entire thread is about flipping shit on CL? I've been doing that every day for around a year now. To me it's addicting, almost like an educated gamble.

Just bumping this thread with a question I need answering about getting into this. Currently I have no car and no License, would this restrict me in a lot of ways ? I'm all for getting the bus if needs be, that I have no problem with but obvisously at some point it will become an issue, thanks in advance !

Just make sure to schedule meeting times with people that work for you. If you know you can make it to a certain parking lot by walking or taking the bus at a certain hour, do that. It will restrict you from buying at the drop of a hat, but depending on how many people are in your area, this may or may not make a huge difference. Just remember you can sell anything anywhere. Jump in, post a few things, and try it yourself.
