MJ I am wondering about your personal life.

Do you have a wife and kids?

I am just curious if entrepreneurship has been limiting for you in that regard.

MJ doesn't have a wife. Check his post on his site:

Why Do Dishes? | MJ DeMarco

In this post he says:

This saves me a lot of time in dishwashing and with no wife (not that I would expect her to do dishes anyways) I figure this saves me about an hour per week in dish drudgery for a decent TROMI (Time Return on Money Invested).

MJ I am wondering about your personal life.

Do you have a wife and kids?

I am just curious if entrepreneurship has been limiting for you in that regard.

Your post implies that "entrepreneurship" has limited my personal life and prevented me from having a wife and kids. I don't have a wife and kids BY CHOICE, not by circumstance. I'm very happy single and while it'd be nice to find a "partner in crime" it isn't something that I *need*. Unlike most people, I hold marriage in a higher regard than some hook for a reality TV program, or some "rite of passage" that one must take due to societal norms/pressures as marriage is probably, the most important decision of one's life.

What really scares me is the question "Do I have any regrets?" because my answer is a resounding NO. (Except college partying and my accident as a teen). Usually when someone is happy and has no regrets, an early death follows.

Here's an article I wrote a few years back regarding marriage...

I'm planning my entrepreneurial premise with the idea that I'm currently married and planning on having kids before I'm 28 years old. I have not intention of living the life I want to live without my family.

Speaking of which, my Father started his business with a full family and three kids (including myself) while in his early 30's. This wasn't easy and he spent a lot of time on the road making it happen. He worked his a$$ off and was able to accomplish his entrepreneurial dream. But here's the difference: We weren't a hinderance to him, we were what empowered him. My mom supported his every move and they thought them through together, making a decision as a unit. My Dad traveled constantly, yet he was always there in my life and my brother's lives. He was a business man and a family man, without sacrificing either.

gee mj your more tolerant then I would be. granted just about everything thats happened to me since I started using the internet is chronicled online somewhere anyway...the point is mute.

I would be offended at people asking questions like the one posed in this thread. how does one thing relate to the other?

while I do admit sometimes I feel as tho I would be farther along in the journey without a husband and children on the other hand they are my insperation. I dont know if I would be on this journey without them in my life.

what one person considers a hinderence another considers an insperation, and what one person does in any one circumstance holds no weight to someone else who finds themselves in the same situation.

I can see why MJ wasn't offended. I think this question would offend women more than men. Women tend to see it as shameful if they aren't married by their late 30s, whereas men can get married and have kids at any age; there's not as much societal pressure on us, although there does exist some through friends, etc. who are entering that stage.

^That isn't just societal pressure for no reason though...

It is healthier, from what I understand, for women to have children at a younger age. For both themselves and the child. So, I think that plays a part in it. As women get older, they not only get pressure from society, but their own biological clock ticks away as well.

Men have no such worries. Well, depending on your friends, family, and significant other, of course.

MJ, I wish you good luck in finding a "partner in crime." Although I don't know you very well, I feel like I can relate to your situation. I'm 26, been on a couple of dates and while these girls are nice people in their own ways, I feel they are so...normal and what they want is very much what a slowlane person would want. I think it's hard for eccentrics to find life partners, but I've seen it happen...no I'm lying haha, but it's possible. If not, then maybe I will find a nice girl and convert her!

MJ, you regret college partying?

Why?

P.s. sorry if this question was personal I was just curious. I think that having a wife does not correlate with entrepreneurship as many entrepreneurs do have wives and kids while many do not. Same as many people with normal jobs. not all people with normal jobs have wives either...

Don't worry, MJ, I more than made up for your share in the partying department during college. Many, many crazy stories, but it turned out ok in the end....;)

Ha, no I didn't regret "college partying" ... I regretted not doing ENOUGH of it. :smxB:

The way you can look at it is yea, those guys who you went to college with that partied more had more fun for those 4 or 5 years than you did, but now most of them are probably living very boring lives in the slowlane. They can't just hop over to Vegas or take a vacation in Europe whenever they feel like it, as you can now. So, you're more than making up for that lost fun in college.

Hmm, I like what MJ & BetterDayz say on this. Marriage is a serious undertaking and it's best to marry a partner in crime or be by oneself than marry just because. It's also more difficult for entrepreneurs and other eccentric types to find such partners... or at least that's been my experience.

Somebody better start a fastlane security business to guard MJ from the groupies.

:iagree:

hahaahhah!!! ^^^^ That's funny! :smxG: <-----groupie! :eusa_clap:

 trashes plan to seduce MJ at the B&P event
Hahahaha, groupies... who does that? :coco:

That isn't just societal pressure for no reason though...

It is healthier, from what I understand, for women to have children at a younger age... Men have no such worries.

There's little to no societal pressure for men to marry and have children, especially by a certain age, but the health aspect is patently false and I really wish there was more awareness of this fact.

While the age is 35 women, at 40 (not that much difference), men start having reproductive problems as well. In their case, fertility drops and the miscarriages increase due to poor sperm quality and DNA deterioration. In the event that fertilization does occur and the sperm creates a fetus that is healthy enough to not be aborted by the body, there's an increased risk for genetic diseases and birth defects. The risk increase for men is just more gradual than for women, although it is still statistically significant.

I'd post a link to sources but I don't think I can include links yet.

That's true. However, men can always freeze some of their sperm in a sperm bank while they're young and use that sperm to have kids at any age. Of course, most men wouldn't think to do this, but most men wouldn't want to have kids at 75 years old anyways. The Larry Kings of the world are rare:

Those kids are his sons, not his grandsons.

Ahhhh... what virile, young, gorgeous, twenty-something-year-old hottie wouldn't want to slid her tongue inside his mouth for a little drool-swapping. Yuck!

HA! Well, I have found that in my situation, marriage has "allowed" me to pursue the path of an entrepreneur rather than "squelch" it. I think men use marriage as a cop-out for their own failures.

i don't really understand why people with money don't enjoy life

there are a lot of poor guys who want a girlfriend but they can't find one because girls are attracted to money

and at the same time a lot of rich guys don't care about getting laid like rock stars.

that's why civil wars are always a nightmare for the rich : France, russia, and so on

frustrated people who witness irrational beahaviours are forced by nature and intelligence to seek justice and order

this is inevitable

coming soon in the years ahead

Wow, didn't know this thread is 7 years old until someone above revived it LOL!
Guess @GMSI7D must have done a forum search for "Does MJ have a wife"

Anyway, why would MJ want a wife? In TMF , he talks about some yatch with big-breasted girls or something. Now he can live THAT kind of life without an old woman who keeps nagging at him to lift up the toilet seat etc.
