Man! I wish this book had been written 20 years ago!
I'm a slowlane business owner. Two modest vacation homes, two business properties and a main residence. Aircraft owner and pilot for over 20 years. One lovely wife and one lovely daughter. At 54, I'm in better health than most males half my age (shooting for a sub 3:00 marathon this year).
BUT! I do not have FINANCIAL FREEDOM. I can't retire. I'm tied to a business and 12 employees that require my attention to function properly. My savings have suffered market downturns and my business (sports photography) will not sell for a multiple that can assure an income at my current rate for the next 35 years (yes, I know that "healthspan/lifespan" is a brash assumption). While I'm not "young" anymore I am still young enough to thrash a Lambo and look good while doing it.
MY POINT? As MJ points out (painfully often), life is short. No one needs the Fastlane like the "not so young"! Hell, we need it the most! So I'm on it. Your challenge now is to the keep up with the old fart.
