Just did two weeks at the beach in Mexico about 4 to 5 hours south of Puerta Vallarta. The first town Manzanillo was okay, had room facing water but the water on that beach was not swimmable so spent most time in pool. The town is 150k people and couldn't connect as didn't have walkable smaller town beach vibe.
I moved on to a bay with two smaller Mexican towns and it was much better smaller beach vibe. Found a mini resort for 80 bucks a night and got a killer room facing water. This beach was amazing and swam twice a day. The waves were decent and did a lot of body surfing. I noticed how much happier and peaceful I became in this environment. It was a perfect week on the beach and felt the best I have in years. I got kicked out as they were booked this weekend and decided to head back to Lake Chapala as down to 28 days left of my first six month visa in Mexico and need to see the lake in March before I go back to States for a week or two to clear visa, retool stuff, prep car to sell and do permanent visa work.
The beach weather was 81 daily with a great breeze but it got to 88 percent humidity and at times it was horrific but going in the water equals it out. I asked myself if living at the beach, mountains or lake seems the best and the beach wins every time but yet the extreme heat which is coming soon squashes that thought. I have decided I need to take advantage of the beach season and later this year plan to be at the beach from mid November to around March.
Yesterday did 6 hour bus ride and the town I'm in is gonna get to 88 so all my beach awesomeness is wearing off. Interested to see how I feel about it all when back on the lake later this week.
