Software plugin idea

So i believe found a very good niche and i had an idea to develop a plug in that will reduce a lot the work time for a popular software i use in my industry , currently at my job i have developed (for my self) a very basic version of said plugin with only a few problems:

1. is not very well optimised, clunky and not “ pretty”
2. not easily deployable, need to learn how to create installers
3. will need to learn how to actually sell it and control it, either with a based subscription or serial number or something so when i sell it to a person can only be installed in 1 or 2 pcs.

Of those main issues , on the first and second, i am already working on weekends and weekday nights to learn more and fix them, which will be eventually helpful in my current job aswell. The 3rd one is abit more tricky, as i am not sure of where to start, has anyone created something similar? How do you control the software that you sell? So if one person buys it it doesnt get passed over to 200 more, i am thinking on a subscription base revenue does it look alright this business model?

any tip, recommendation or reality check will be greatly appreciated.

i am not thinking of quitting my job just yet till i have successfully launched the plugin and created some significant revenue along with some other side hustle activities closely related. I am currently earning a very decent salary and with the stagflation/recession feels on the air dont want to go ”full in”, instead only use my personal time for development of this plug in and learning (weekends and weekday nights)
