Lately every single dude I see on a construction site has one of these going, and every other person I see at a corner store/gas station in the morning is buying one. I'll start by saying I am 'new entrepreneurs' but here's my ideas as to why, please correct/critique me:

  • Marketing to the fitness crowd. Claims to burn fat (in small print says 'with exercise'), give you energy to lift. You're not only buying caffeine you're 'buying fitness'. Cornered the market of energy drinks teetering between preworkout.

  • Ridiculous amount of flavors. I mean crazy amount. All with quirky names, etc.

  • Sugar-free (at least most of them, I believe).

  • Relatively minimalist packaging. Breaks away from what has kind of become borderline tacky energy drink branding. Kind of looks more like a bougie seltzer beer than an energy drink.

  • 'Healthy'. Vitamins, no artificial flavorings, etc. Puts people under the impression that these ingredients cancel out the negative effects of drinking 200mg of caffeine in the morning. Heart attack? Nonsense! This has 7 essential vitamins in it! Cures cancer!

  • Uses caffeine from green tea (at least most of them do I believe) and has a smoother/mellower effect.
And lastly, it's actually good!

Seems like they took the building trend for the last few years of energy drinks aiming at being better for you/less chemical-y and just turbocharged the ever-living shit out of it into an aesthetically pleasing package.

Please correct, add on, etc. Figured this might be of some value considering I see them EVERYWHERE and they have to be doing something right. Productocracy case in point for surely.

Happy Tuesday!

the Arctic blue flavor is so good that I drink it even when I don’t need an energy boost sometimes.

Ah, the ubiquitous construction site accessory and morning corner store obsession! It's as if these energy drinks have become the official elixir of productivity and survival. But fear not, dear new entrepreneur, let's dissect the reasons behind their rampant popularity and see if we can decipher their secret formula:
First up, we have the fitness fanatics. These drinks cleverly market themselves as fat-burning and energy-boosting, a perfect fit for those pumping iron and aiming to sculpt the ultimate physique. Just remember, you still need to hit the gym to witness the magic. No shortcuts here, folks!
And oh, the flavors! They've gone completely wild with an astonishing array of tastes, each one more eccentric than the last. It's like a flavor rollercoaster that keeps your taste buds entertained and bewildered. Who knew an energy drink could be a wild adventure for your palate?
Let's not forget the sugar-free brigade. They've managed to cater to the health-conscious crowd, offering guilt-free energy boosts. But be warned, excessive consumption may lead to an inexplicable urge to do jumping jacks in the middle of the office.
Now, behold their minimalist packaging. They've broken free from the clutches of tacky energy drink branding, opting instead for a sleek and sophisticated look. It's like sipping on a fancy seltzer beer, minus the hangover but with an extra dose of caffeine-induced enthusiasm.
Ah, the illusion of healthiness. With added vitamins and the absence of artificial flavors, they convince us that drinking copious amounts of caffeine is the epitome of wellness. A true miracle elixir! Forget about heart palpitations; we've got seven essential vitamins to save the day!
Most of these drinks even derive their caffeine from the holy grail of tea, the almighty green tea. The smooth, mellower effect provides a zen-like boost to keep you going without the jitters. It's like having a Zen master whispering motivation in your ear.
And lastly, the ultimate secret ingredient: they actually taste good! Yes, they've managed to crack the code and create an energy drink that doesn't make you gag with each sip. It's an energy revolution in a can!
So, there you have it, a caffeinated masterpiece that combines fitness, flavors, sugar-free delights, minimalist packaging, healthiness illusion, green tea magic, and the elusive concept of actually tasting good. They've taken the energy drink trend and kicked it into high gear, all wrapped up in an aesthetically pleasing package.
In the end, they must be doing something right, for they've infiltrated every nook and cranny of our daily lives. Cheers to the productocracy, and may your Tuesday be filled with the electrifying buzz of success!

This is a good habit to get into as an entrepreneur, so keep it up.

My take is it's the first and last points you made that are the most important. My guess is they have a money cannon to fire at their marketing budget.

Flavours are good, however too many can kill a brand. My guess is (I don't know this brand), they added the flavours as they became more popular.

There was obviously a need for an energy drink that didn't taste like crap and give you the jitters. If Celsius does that, then there's your main answer.

A healthy energy drink is still an energy drink. A large part of the health conscious gym-going yoga crowd aren't going to touch energy drinks at all.

Mass market appeal is capped. They're still going to face competition from other energy drinks, especially for crowds like construction workers. There's no productocracy here, just different packaging and better ingredients. Nothing that's going to stop a competitor from entering. And just how brand loyal can energy drinkers really be?

I know for me, the only drinks I want in my diet are water, tea, and milk. Sometimes the tea is caffeinated (some green teas) and that's ok, but it's usually not.
