I used to have a very similar mindset. I was always looking for people to provide value to me, but never wanted to pay for it. I only wanted to spend money on consumable goods. Heck, just this week I was grumbling about paying $5 to go to an entrepreneurs meetup in my city. That's right $5! Unsurprisingly, between some of the people I met, the knowledge I gained, and the free drinks provided it was more than worth the mere $5 sticker price. I understand you have a business you are trying to fund, but have you considered that some of the information and connections you make at this conference could cause your business to grow 10x bigger and faster than if you didn't go? You could be standing in a room with people who have their business where you are trying to take yours. Do you think they are there because they want to talk about the weather and fantasy football or to be a resource for those who are trying to get where they are at and to meet like minded people? You know the answer. Is that really an opportunity you want to pass up? I only started reading this forum a few months ago, and I'll admit I'm very much still a newbie compared to most the veteran posters. I can tell you this much though, I am not going to miss out on going to this conference. Too much value to pass up on. Do I have the money for a $300 conference, a plane ticket from Virginia, and a hotel room for 2-3 days? Heck no. But I'm going to find a way to come up with that money. The biggest thing I've learned from this forum is provide VALUE and the money will follow. This conference will undoubtedly provide the value that is well worth the incurred cost. Don't be dumb. Invest in your future.

^ this.

Every year.

There are a few people like you there every year. Every single one of them walks away with a changed life.

Without exception.

Also, every year there are people that post that are all "I'm so down..." and then time rolls around, and they fade to gray.

Time will tell if you are one of them.

The demand is crazy, last year the 75 people that were there you barley had a chance to meet everyone outside small talk, I could only imagine if it was open to 200 or so.

If it matters @MJ DeMarco, all kidding aside here, The marriot was a good spot considering there was multiple lodging areas surrounding it and it was right in old town. I'd imagine @kennyY @byron @Mark will still be at the apartments that J&C lived in last year which was a nice place for sunday since it was right down the street. The meeting room seemed ample for 75 ppl and was easy to use too.

Of course that all depends on the deal, but just wanted to put that out there for feedback.

A wild pack of Ted Danson's couldn't keep me away from this event.

I will be there, and would be happy to present again. I already have some ideas, notes, slides, etc...more than likely I will propose to present on paid traffic.

I posted on what a huge impact this event had on my life in this thread:
https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...mit-official-thread.57540/page-24#post-444834
[hint: you can't afford to miss this]

This is going to be exciting!

See everyone in a few months.

Travis

Moderator suggestion for @MJ DeMarco @Andy Black @AllenCrawley @Vigilante ->

Create a new, "locked" thread that only the mods can post in, where the ticket release will be announced but which can still be watched by general users, and keep this one separate for finding presenters etc. Not only is this less cluttered, but we won't be getting 23 email notifications a day for the next two months while things are hammered out that basically say some variation of "awesome" or "It's 5 months away but I can't afford it," while still being on-the-ball for tickets.

My $0.02.

Also, Travis must present again. That was awesome.

oops...double post? Sorry..

I'll use this time to make a couple of comments:
1. I liked the Marriott venue too.
2. Loved being in old town.
3. It would be nice to avoid spring training crowd/costs.
4. A little notice on the exact dates so we can plan other events accordingly, would be super helpful.
5. I'm so glad it is time to be talking about this event already!

That is all.

Everyone listen right now...

This is one of those conferences that can change your life simply based on the quality of people there and the number of people in attendance.

Most conferences are overwhelming - you meet someone and then forget their name before getting introduced to the next herd.

Fastlane wasn't like that and I strongly recommend you attend.

Yup, I plan on being there.

I started here a while back, was pumped to start it all. Somewhere along the way my life kind of derailed and nothing ever came of anything I started even though it was all off to a good start. A few years later I logged back on, and have been changing my life again. Taking action!

If I get my hands on that ticket, I will definitely be there!

You'd better be grabbing yourself in protection when you say that!

Reference for last year's attendees....nothing to see here...

In all seriousness, attendance at last year's conference has provided the following benefits:

  • Introduced me to a great bunch of characters, many of whom seem larger than life but in fact are that way in real life. I'm looking at you, @Esquire. And @AllenCrawley. And @MJ. And of course, the incomparable @LightHouse!
  • Further introduced to a smaller subset of dudes who have formed a fun, useful, and extremely valuable accountability/idea group. (It's almost that time again, gents..)
  • Got The Wife fully on-board with this whole Fastlane thing. Strengthened our marriage AND our partnership.
  • Met an incredible gent (@Maverick 1000) who has introduced us to very useful and "accelerant"(as in enzymatic) people as we build this other business.
  • Got to see real players and what they're making happen.
  • Can now poke @Red and say, "Hey! How's your book going?" ;)
  • Met a really nice bloke (@The Duc) who showed us that a Life Abroad is very easily doable, even with children.
  • Met @GlobalWealth. I'm still hungover from that one. I still can't seem to find my wallet..@Lighthouse, any ideas?
Make time for this event.

If I owned the joint, I would make it so that the tickets were first available to those with a certain speed points balance before it opened up to the general public. That would make it so that a regular contributor to the forum had a better shot at the limited availability for the guaranteed sell out venue than the newbie who happens to be online at the right time. You could even do a sliding scale, with the first days ticket sales to the high achievers, second day to low to mid tier, and final day for newbies/non-contributors. It would also encourage people to step up their game between now and then. It's OK if there are no tickets left for newbies... they can hang around for a year and build up their rep before they get access to the golden ticket.

Just want to plant the seed! Its already time to start thinking about the 2016 Fastlane Summit in Scottsdale Arizona. The Summit is 2-3 days and features 10-15 speakers from the forum, topics of all disciplines.

Tentative dates are late February to early March, 2016.

Also, those who would like to present to the group, start thinking about a TOPIC!

Space is extremely limited. The event sold out last year in a few hours. This year we expect a quicker sell out, assuming this time I don't botch the ticket release (like last year).

Watch the thread for information, dates, locations, costs, etc. as it is released.

See ya soon!

I wouldn't miss it - where do i send the check to prepay?
