Hey Gang,

Been lurking the forum for about a month now and figured I'd make a proper introduction.

I'm not even sure how I came to this forum but I'm super appreciative to MJ for making it.

There's some pretty awesome content here that, surprisingly, is actionable, which I find to be a rarity on internet forums, especially one that talks about money.

Anyway, a little about me.

I'm 25, living in Southern Cali and for the most part am happy with my life.

The only thing that drives me insane is me wasting hours, days, weeks, months of my life slaving away at a job that gives me 2 days a week of freedom (and some vacation time but you get the idea)

Now don't get me wrong, my job and work environment is pretty sweet by most people's comparison, but I just don't like working for other people and not having control of my time, my life.

Never have.

Professionally, my experience is in performance online marketing. Specifically media buying with a lead generation emphasis.

I probably could've worded that better but long story short, I buy media online and turn that traffic into leads for different advertisers. Been doing that for for about 3 years and have spent the last 6 months or so strictly in the mobile space.

But, that isn't my passion.

My passion is coming up with cool things that provide value for people.

I'm not someone that really cares about making a quick buck.

I'm more concerned about providing value, creating relationships and it's my belief that the money will follow.

And that's the problem with what I currently do.

As a performance marketer, most of the focus is on making the quick buck. Buying media, optimizing the media, and making money.

Seems cool in theory, but it just doesn't burn the fire inside of me.

What I'm passionate about is coming with problem solving ideas, and coming up with things/content/systems/whatever that provide real value to people.

I feel like I'm repeating myself...

So, with that being said, I've decided to make this year the year that shit happens on a larger scale.

Since the beginning of the year I've given up TV for the most part (I watch like 3 hours a week now) and spend almost all my free time working on different projects to make some money trees.

The only time I give to myself is the majority of Sunday to recharge. I still spend at least a couple of hours grinding.

Here's what I'm doing:

Currently, I make somewhere in the range of 50-100 bucks a month just on adsense that I put on some YouTube videos I created back in 2008 (pretty damn cool that I get cash for shit I did back in 08) so one of my goals is to create some more content to get some residual advertising cash.

I created a fitness oriented blog about 6 months ago just to document my fitness progress. That gets about 300 uniques/month and I'd like to get that to 1000+/month if at all possible. I haven't really done much promotion of that blog so I think with a little elbow grease I should be able to do that and that would increase my advertising cash, if even by just 10-50/month, that would be pretty sweet.

Now that I actually wrote that out, 1k/month probably won't get me that much but hey, the content is updated daily anyway so we'll just have to see what happens.

My next project is another blog that I'd rather not talk too much about in detail as it's super personal for now (kinda weird that I'm doing a blog on something super personal, sharing it with the public and yet don't feel all that comfortable sharing that here, LOL). I guess in due time.

That blog also should be easy for me to generate the content as it's something that I'm very passionate about and a niche that I'm very involved with on a regular basis.

I literally just launched that blog about a week ago and already have 100 unique visitors that got there without any real promotion of it.

The niche is very passionate and I really think getting that to roughly 20K visitors a month is very doable. It's a topic that's hot in the media right now and while there are certainly people in my space, I think that I'm filling a niche that hasn't been carved out too much.

If I were to get 20K visitors a month, I'm guesstimating that would bring in around 1K/month in cash and honestly, it could be more.

I can easily see the site, if it were to take off, getting a ton of traffic and the users would be very high value since that niche is highly sort after by advertisers.

Even if it doesn't make any real coin, again, an extra $100 or so a month for something that I enjoy talking about anyway is cool by me.

And then there is my big daddy.

I've been working on a business plan and details for a mobile app business for about a year. I actually hired developers in June from India but had to fire them a couple months ago since they just couldn't cut it. I got no real value out of them and their work was a disaster.

Lesson learned.

The good news is I've found some developers that are good and that my buddy is in the process of testing them out himself. He's an engineer in his own right and is just looking to outsource the work so it will be a great learning experience before I have them start on my MVP (Minimum Viable Product).

That project is really my baby and am looking to begin developing again within the next month once I get feedback and work out some details with some partners.

As I mentioned, it's been about a year of wireframing, brainstorming, building the business plan, getting mentoring, tweaking, screwing up and learning, etc.

I now have a roadmap for the next 24 months or so once development begins and again, it's a niche that advertisers love and a product that I truly think has the potential to take off (and so do the people I've talked to about. People are already doing what my app will do, the app, ideally, will just let them do it easier and better).

I'll get into more details about that project as I work through it but that's not the point of this post.

Holy shit that was a long post. Sorry!

That's me, kind of, in a nutshell.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys and gals!

Cheers!

Hell frieden70, I am happy to meet a fellow e-worker like you. I started my online journey back in 2008 and I am now quiet successful with what I do.

I have read your whole journey so far, very interesting but don't be too hard on yourself. Take some break here and there to recharge.

I have built my blog(s) and traffic and income is now semi automated. I also started working as a freelancer that helped me make even more money.

Hey man, let's connect together and discuss more.
