I would like to hear some of your data loss stories and what went wrong so we know how to protect ourselves.

I will post some of my data loss accidents in post 2.

Remember: Do backups! Fastlaners can afford redundant space storage!

I once put 2 hours into a document, but the foolish mistake was that I used Windows stock notepad.exe and no saving at all.

At some point, notepad stopped to respond. (Not Responding).
I thought: Oh, fsck! (I made a memory dump using the task manager, but there was no text I typed inside of it. It is proprietary software, so that dump file is harder to make any use of.).

I did not use a Samsung 256GB MicroSD card for 3 months, which caused it to lose some sectors, which is how flash storage works: No power supply = sectors lose charge.

256GB on a microSD card hits physical limitations.
