Writing a Book: Get Clients to prove the method first? Or just write the book

I have a great weight loss method I developed for women over 40. Used it myself to rapidly and safely lose weight.

I'm writing a book. Have a few chapters completed already and hired a book coach.

Question: some of the best how-to books I've read were written by authors who used their methods on others first before writing the book. So their books have compelling testimonials sprinkled throughout.

Should I get paying clients first to test it out the method and get case studies? Or keep writing the book to get paying clients?

Def don't want to lose my writing momentum and private clients can be a pain in the you know what.
