Hey all,
I’ve just wrapped up a tool I built to make life easier for small teams and self-employed managers: a web app that handles both shift scheduling and invoicing in one place. A quick rundown:
Why I built it: I’m in e-commerce, surrounded by self-employed managers and drivers who need a simple, affordable way to juggle schedules and payments. They love that it combines everything in one dashboard and costs less than the big-name apps.
Here’s my challenge: I’ve demoed it to a few colleagues who say it’s exactly what they need… but I haven’t landed a single paying customer yet. I haven’t set up social media or spent a penny on ads because I want to prove there’s genuine demand first. Every time I finish something cool, I stare at my screen wondering, “How do I find those first few clients?” and then I drift to the next idea.
So I’m turning to you: Has anyone successfully launched a tool in a community that didn’t know you? What steps did you take to get from “nice demo” to “here’s my credit card”? Any tips on making that first sale—without blowing cash on ads—would mean the world to me.
Thanks in advance for any pointers!

- Easy shift assignments: Add or remove people from the rota in seconds.
- Instant invoices: Auto-generate, update, and download invoices whenever schedules change.
- Flexible pay rates: Set a standard daily wage or tweak individual rates on the fly.
- Bonuses: Pre-create them and attach directly to invoices.
- Time-off management: Block out people on leave so they don’t show up in scheduling.
- Worker access: Let your team log in to view their own upcoming shifts and invoices.
