Millionaire Wealth Statistics by Country: Marketers Target Where Millionaires Live Not Who Millionaires Are

It's odd not seeing Japan second or third place with the amount of millionaires, I don't understand why Japan is not even in the top 9 since they do have the second largest economy in the world.

Why doesn't Japan have alot of millionaires like other developed economies?

Why doesn't Japan have alot of millionaires like other developed economies?

They do. Find a different source. Japan should be high up on that list.
The person making that list forgot to include Japan.

The billionaires list is also interesting, I might be wrong but Russia should be #2

This is why anybody who tells you the USA is not the richest country in the world doesn't know what they are talking about.... Good stuff!

Re: Why doesn't Japan have alot of millionaires like other develo

Well, taking the BusinessWeek figures and regarding the total poulation you have to consider Switzerland as the richest country.

But anyway, these "statistics" differ a lot, as well as their definition of a millionaire I guess.

Why disturbing?

Out of 1.3 billion people, only 300K are millionaires. That's terrible. It seems as if nobody wants to achieve in that country. That's why it's disturbing.

Re: Why doesn't Japan have alot of millionaires like other develo

Its disturbing because there are so few millionaires compared to their population. I don't think it is because the people lack desire but the way the country is run which creates more barriers to success. The Beijing Olympics are probably going to open up the world to what is going on over there. I mean they are limiting internet access! That alone is a huge hurdle to anyone with a plan for success based on the internet.

I find it more disturbing that you're 30 years old and have absolutely no idea what Communism is. 12 year old work 90 hour work weeks there. How many 12 year old here even work at all? Maybe we are just lazy?

LOLz to this line of dialog!

That's Communism hard at work!
Many people are in poverty because they're stuck in rural areas due to policy, not because they're lazy.
I find it more disturbing that you're 30 years old and have absolutely no idea what Communism is.

Some really uneducated and bigoted remarks there. And some intelligent ones...

JEEZ! As I've pointed out before, "China is going through Iron Age, Industrial Age, and Information Age all at once in various parts of it's geography! The civilization that pops out at the end will be like nothing the world has ever seen!" See also

Re: Why doesn't Japan have alot of millionaires like other develo

It's not disturbing, China has only been opened up for 30 years therefore they had a late start, the Chinese economy is rising fast and will be the richest country by 2025 overtaking United States, while the growth of millionaires in USA is around 4-5% per year but in China it's rising about 18-23% per year which China will overtake USA with most number of millionaires.

While in United States is a developed economy, the millionaires growth is slow but China is a developing economy therefore new industries are being developed and expanded which is why the number of millionaires will keep on rising at a faster rate then USA.

Also, while the USA new car sales decline but in China they are rising 25% per year.

I think China is all about capitalism, they all want good lives like we do here in the states.

^Well said! It's not like Communism broke the spirits of the population. The young people of the metropoli are just as driven as you and me, and China will be a Juggernaut -- sooner than 2025, I think.

Re: Why doesn't Japan have alot of millionaires like other develo

Being a millionaire really isn't that impressive anymore. Heck most of the people I hang out with are in that group and its like meh. They are just normal people, its not like you can live a crazy life style or stop working. You can get some nice toys thats about it.

Now if you have $100m+ thats impressive!

Around here its pretty commen, and I'm just in CT. Heck my good friend blew about $2m in 5 years racing his sailboat LOL. He had a blast, though.
