I just wrote this article which is about business structures and stakeholders. Lets just say that my experience in watching stakeholder changes and how they can erode customer service is extensive.

So true! I currently work for a company that started out small and focused on our customer. A few mergers later with a very large publicly traded company and the focus has changed to growing new customers. the current customers are turned over to the lower rank and file customer service employee's, ones who are hired at low wages and have very little incentive to treat customers like a stakeholder. I think once a company grows to a certain point with "non customer" stakeholders this is like a snowball rolling down a hill and it is nearly impossible to turn back.

How big can a company grow before this trend takes hold? Are there publicly traded companies that are an exception to this?
