Hey all,

Personally one of the most interesting thing to follow during all the lockdowns is the Walt Disney Company. In the last 20 or so years (ever since Bob Iger became CEO) they've slowly gobbled up more and more of the businesses around them. It seemed to many that they were unstoppable in their conquest to own as much of the media/entertainment space as it legally possible.

But then, of course, they shut down in March. And things haven't really been looking good for them since. I know they've stated that theme parks contribute to around 1/3 of the entire company's worldwide revenue. They've been closed for over 2 months now and their Q1 earnings report was looking really shaky.

My question is, when do you think they will reopen their parks? How long can they afford to go without the revenue? Universal just announced they are reopening in early June, but Disney has been completely silent. Part of me wonders if the new upper management changes (there have been so many) have affected decision making.

Disney is a major contributor to Florida’s tax base

Pretty soon I guess, it's also REALLY easy to practice social distancing there, just make it clear that everyone has to stay 1 m apart and that EVERYONE has to wear their masks+possibly gloves if need be.
Maybe they will run at half capacity but they will still run, idk if it will be profitable tho...
Here in Italy many places are staying closed because the actual expenses would make their businesses unprofitable, for example restaurants and some bars too, also the fact that if you get caught breaking any "rules/laws" you get forced to close for 30 days so you're throwing away June that is more important.
