Hello everyone, I am feeling quite burnt out and frustrated, not knowing what to do, so I decided to just go ahead and post here, can't hurt.
At what point do you guys say your business failed and move on to something else? I remember some guy saying that you aren't done till you are done, but I don't want to go into a crap ton of debt and wasting time trying to save something that isn't working. I was supposed to sell a couple of sorta expensive boats this spring. Well, it took too long and too much money to get that stuff ready for sale, so now I have doubts that I will make it this year, now that the season is gone. The economic situation is kinda shitty up in Canada, my profit margin was low with a lot of sweat equity. Basically spent a lot of time and money getting something that no one wants to make $70k this year if I get lucky. I am sure a LOT of you can relate.
Meanwhile everyone else is telling me to go get a real job, which is something I haven't been having much success with either. I have my current job that can pay the bills, but it doesn't really pay all that much. I did read TMF and I wholeheartedly agree with all the stuff there, except my a$$ seems glued with some expensive shit to a tricycle.
So naturally, I am trying to think of another business I can start. I have to say, I SUCK at identifying opportunities (how do i get better at this?). Literally anything I can think of falls back onto one problem: No one has money nowadays to pay for anything. So I guess what sells is the bare necessities, like groceries, gasoline, and housing. All of these have major established players already, and most involve real estate which is easily several million for business purposes around here. I literally can't seem to think of a single problem I can solve, and all the good ones, after some research, seem to be taken.
So now my thinking kind of has me running myself into a frustrating corner. Everyone who graduated from my class with me from uni 2 years ago has a stable job, housing, car that doesn't break down on every corner, etc and I am still screwing around trying to make the unworkable work out. I thought perhaps I am maybe too lazy, so I took the DEFCON thing and scored a 52... BRUH. Well, I think that is because I don't really have a business goal to work to. Meanwhile I think I will start reading CHLE... When I started flipping boats, I was really enthusiastic about the business and I still work on it on weekends and my spare time after work. But, it seems like it is failing, and I am loosing faith in it. I am confident I put in my maximum effort and I have no regrets trying it, it was a good experience.
The problem is I can't seem to find a new good business idea that I believe in. If I had something I believed in that would work, I am certain without a doubt that I would work on it every minute I could find. When I drive home from work, I try to think of ideas. The ones I don't get rid of right away I try run through AI, and one that I really thought solved a real problem I posted in facebook groups to see if I can get some kind of traction/demand (all I got was crickets), but then they all seem kinda shitty at the end of the day, which kind of makes me feel really stuck and frustrated, not knowing what to do next.
Everyone seems to be talking about AI and SaaS (not sure if I put the caps in correctly) and stuff, which makes me really confused. 12 year old joe blow made XYZ AI business, and so on, WTF? Everyone is out there seems to be making some kind of AI company or something I can't wrap my head around. I'm almost feeling like that crocodile Dan Dee guy in new york... I'm sure I can do it too, yet I haven't a damn clue whats going on, let alone identify any AI related problems I can solve... The only one I could think of is that AI SUCKS for technical stuff. i.e. it will tell you to replace the muffler bearing and flux capacitor in your car when in reality it was a blown fuse. AI to me is the program that does a shitty job of writing your homework and makes silly memes. How do I educate myself on it (for dummies)?
And then everything just seems to come back to me being stuck hard where I am...
I think I forgot where I was going with this... End of rant!
