I just had a thought pop into my mind and I am trying to figure out if it would be a waste of time or profitable. The idea is a service that doctors would sign up for to receive magazines. The magazines they would get would be older and they would not need to have a subscription. Here is how it would work. I would buy old used magazines from people who are done reading theirs. I would pay them a small fee for the magazine so they would actually make a little bit of money instead of just throwing them away. I would sign up doctors who would pay a yearly subscription to receive X amount of magazines per month. I looked a saw subscriptions cost about 10.00 per yr for 12 issues, so I need to figure out a way to make it worth while for the doctors to do and profitable for me to do. I thought I would throw the idea out here for everybody to kick around.

Looking up some domains. I know magazines are a dying industry, but I think they still have many years left.

Your goal basically to sell magazines to doctors for the waiting rooms, correct?

I don't think this idea will work. I am no doctor but I am sure that they would be too busy to read a out dated, old, and used magazine (what type of magazine btw?). Might be better bet if you held on to some LE one and auction it off when the industry dies out. Some challenge I see with this is storage, distribution, and a limited market. Also this might be the wrong forum to be posted in.

I'd think an inexpensive tablet would make more sense in waiting areas for patient browsing, serving up ads etc...

I know doctor's offices typically don't care if they have old magazines since they are just there to keep patients occupied for a short amount of time. I think the issue would be is if they are ok with old magazines they probably won't be re-upping for more old magazines. They'll buy some once and more than likely just go to a pharmacy and pick them up or from friends etc and not change them out for quite a while.

Its way too cheap and easy to go subscribe to the recent issues of 5 or 6 magazines. These guys have money usually and are not worried about spending a hundred bucks a year on magazines.

Go ask some Doctors. Start with yours. I have no idea what they think.

Ummm..... sorry to break your bubble, but this idea won't work.

My father is a doctor (retired now).

He never had to pay for any magazines for his office. The magazine companies fell all over themselves sending him free ones in hopes that his patients would read them and subscribe.
