Make sure the footprints and pinouts you assign on your PCBs match the ones of the components you are buying, otherwise you'll need to rework the boards manually!

(If you want more specific advice, you'll need to ask a more specific question :) )

Underestimating the time it takes to develop.

It's not really the hours of development that count. When you have created a new invention, like a software, online site or a robot-- From the point that the first version is released, if the product gains traction, there will be tens, hundreds or even thousands of new updates / versions. Each of these is an iteration and improvement, where user/market feedback tells you what can be done better.

So it is really the amount and quality of iterations that count, not hours spent on the project. This is the only way to shape the technology to fit what the end user has in mind (neither you nor your developers are end users.)

Hello all, I need to know for my project how can I avoid mistakes in technology development?

- things you regard as simple/easy to solve can be incredibly complex in practice
- the real problems are often where you expect them the least
- time is nothing: problems you think are simple to solve, can cost you months and years
- products are often extremely expensive to develop and it costs you a lot of time
- experience is often extremely valuable

Avoid problems by:
- knowing everything yourself
- never being dependent on other people
- having lots of time and/or money

I've thinking about an audiobook app. It's small project and shouldn't be difficult?
Ok, so first mistake to avoid in technology development:

1. Start with selling.
Engage the market, offer the none existent app with some fictitious landing page or clip and see what the market thinks.
Send it to whoever you think might be the user of such an app and get their honest feedback.
If the feedback is positive and you find people that want to pay money to use said app, only then proceed.
You dont need to worry about any other mistakes before confirming the market need.

That sounds easy. You could easily program one yourself.
The problem is "only" in finding paying customers.

this ^

but a close second is being cooped up in the corner of your room working on the tech all hours of the week, and spending zero time engaging with the marketplace, gauging feedback along the way.
