I am very new to this forum so the first thing I would like to do is say hello everyone! I have had this idea for months I would love to have your opinions on it, don't sugar coat it tell me the flat out truth.

Ok so the situation is that now with the bad economy people are always looking for deals on the goods and services, and company are trying to bring in customers thought these discounts and coupons. So my idea is a website/apps that you type in the goods/services that you want and the website/app will notify you via txt email or push notification. You can sell advertising to companies so when you get the notification txt or email it shows some related products or other offers the business is promoting.

I know the idea is far from a complete plan but I was hoping for some advice on where to go next to get on the
fast lane.

Thanks, Jack k

In my opinion it's got potential but you have yet to fulfill all of the commandments to make it a fastlane business. There is obviously a need for this type of thing because there are things like this out there already (Groupon, BradsDeals, Amazon Local, and Woot just to name a few.) Now I'm not sure if all of those services have an app, but I'm sure some of them already do... I'm almost certain Groupon does anyway. The problem I see here is that you haven't said really brought anything new to the table. What can you do that will make people download or even pay for your app as opposed to one that is already established and popular? This is the hardest thing to find a solution, and something I'm still struggling with myself. The other problem I see with this plan is getting big name businesses that will attract people to use coupons/deals from your app/website. I feel like it would be difficult to convince Red Lobster to get a nationwide promotion going just to help you out... a single store or a couple of the local ones may, but that's not fastlane then as you're not really impacting millions at that point.

Thanks for your help. I have never really used Groupon or any of the other listed site so I can't say they don't have this but the thing I though was different was how you find coupons. So lets say that you want a tissot watch but you want to wait to get it cheaper so instead of checking every couple days you add the tissot watch to your watch list and the website/app will notify you so all you have to do is add it to a watch list. It is really just taking the hassle out looking for deals. But for getting a big company I have a friend whose dad is the Ceo of buckle so I might be able to talk to him to get the first big brands in on the website/app.

This is the business plan thousands of businesses have in thousands of industries. This is nothing new.

Valpack, Groupon, Yellowpages, Craigslist, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I don't see what value you'd bring to the table by creating yet another one of these middle-man-marketplaces
