I use porn to escape reality when things get tough. I eat bad food to do the same. Tv? Check. Sleeping in. You bet. Enough is enough. Though I don’t stay in these habits and get over myself I still indulge. F*ck that. It’s time to take control and wake up. Replacing no fap with cold showers. Basically any bad habit with a cold shower or a quick burpee if I’m in my room and need to work or for a run if I have time. Or approach a cutie. I’ve done this in college and had major success but life caught up. No more. Success is built in day to day stuff that you don’t realize. These are loser habits. Straight up. Whoever wants to join I will embrace you with cold arms as this will be challenging and few will undertake this. Whoever wants to join let me know and maybe I’ll start a private convo or thread for support and accountability. Let’s do this. One life. Make the most out of it and don’t sleep walk through life.

I hope this doesn't come across too aggressively, but do you own or intend to own a business?

As much as I can appreciate your effort to make a change in your life, what steps will you be taking to actually make improvements? If you plan on going cold turkey for all these habits, unless you've got a will of steel, you aren't going to get very far.

What I would suggest is to improve upon your self by taking gradual steps in correcting these habits. Make a list of everything you feel you're doing to escape reality and start doing things in order to break those habits. When you do, count up every time that you break a habit and eventually you'll amass a list of your success. Any time that you question yourself, you can always look back at your progress and know where you're at.

Best of luck in making yourself better.

I agree with this. It seems like you're trying to change some important things, and that's awesome, but doing it all at once AND focusing on the negatives AND beating yourself up is just a recipe for more beating off and playing video games (or whatever).

Set a clear goal of what you WANT, not what you don't want, and get after it.

Like others have said, you probably shouldn't just focus on what you don't want.

But, at the same time, I do think cutting things out that are holding you back is very important... it just won't be very effective unless you are actively pursuing something bigger that will occupy you.

I don't self-promote very much, but you can check out The Phoenix Journal if you'd like to create a clear vision for your future that pulls you forward, break it down, and take action on it.

Props for the decision to make your life better, I've been in your exact position. In fact, not long ago I made the decision to completely cut out Reddit & YouTube and my life has been much better for it

Create a daily table on paper with 2-3 new habits for 3 weeks (it's an approximate time to completely learn new habit). Every evening before go to bed look at this and write: +, +- or - by every habit written on paper. After about 3 weeks analyze it and continue if you haven't learned yet. Then repeat, learn new habits and become better hero.

Read books instead watch porn.
Run instead eat junk food.

After a month of these things you will be better. Your brain will produce more dopamine and your testosterone will be increased. Trust me and try it now.

I made the decision to completely cut out Reddit & YouTube
Somehow Reddit is a good starting point of research and inspiration of ideas for me.

Even for non-Fastlane stuff like my college assignments.:)

For my recent forecasting with R assignment, my lecturer told us we could pick any dataset.

Since Hong Kong had just began to blow up all over the news, I thought, 'Let's go for that.'

I thought at first about getting crime data, since that was what the extradition bill was about.
Then I read the convo on r/HongKong, other subreddits, got linked to a YouTube vid or so, and then read of one of the side issues related to the HK distress: housing affordability.

Not really directly related to the extradition issue, but it did have some side effects.

So I promptly found the related data on CEIC, and got to work.

Completed it with my partner on time, and got some good comments from my lecturers on the intro, overall forecasts, and policy suggestions, except for some technicals in the forecasting terminology, which was expected.

I have another assignment on my hands, due coming Friday.
I need to pick a stock to analyse, and forecast the upcoming target price with a few valuation models, to recommend a short or long position.

Thing is, I wasn't sure what stock I to check up on, do the models, and declare which to go long or short on.

Earlier on though, I had jumped onto r/wallstreetbets (yeah...it's NOT an INVESTING subreddit), and I heard lots of talk on WeWork's potential fall, before it actually halted the IPO.

But I didn't feel like writing a report on shorting stock, as it felt like a speculative trade play, rather than investing.

So I decided to find a stock that people were confident that they could go long on, or better, were already doing so.

Tomorrow, I'll be attending a talk by some executive from Chick-Fil-A at church, and I remembered it had some good business practices that can be reflected in the price, so I looked up on it. However, I found it to be private, so I thought of the next good company: Wendy's.

So I jumped to Reddit r/stocks, heard lots of positives on its better food (products) quality and even a bit of decent financials comparisons. So, tonight, I'll see if the pricing models do move up nicely against the market price, and if all goes well, I'll wrap it up go back to the company background and fundamentals.

Even for business stuff, I got an Upwork gig to write a resume.
I decided to check out on new formats to write one, and surprisingly, I discovered that you could pair up the job requirements, alongside your background/experience in a TABLE.

It helps to make the resume stand out, especially when most resumes are just walls of texts and paragraphs.

These are just some examples on how Reddit can be a good tool...but of course, you've got to know which direction to take, and a bit of past knowledge to understand stuff.

You can try learning from the Leninists.

Put banners at your room. Wake up first day in the morning and shout the slogans. It works. Chinese factories and schools have been training their workers and students these way and their GDP doubles every ten years. Certain religious sects emphasis on daily praying to be more holy. I think the same logic holds. What you emphatically remind yourself will translate into action.
